Health, care and first aid trainingAnnual updates, and every record behind them.
The BLS, ILS or phlebotomy update comes round every year, and each time the record has to be right. Run it on Cademy as e-learning followed by a face-to-face assessment, and each learner’s attendance, quiz result, certificate, expiry date and CPD hours are saved to their registration.
For clinical skills, first aid and care trainers, therapy CPD providers, and NHS and care employers who run their own induction and mandatory training.
A practice nurse’s BLS update, step by step.
Trusts and practices usually ask for a BLS update every year. The e-learning comes first and the skills assessment second, and her certificate waits for both.
Basic Life Support Annual Update
On-Demand + Live60% CompleteShe shows up as due.
Sort registrations by certificate expiry and last January’s BLS group sits at the top. Select the people who are due and send them an invite to the new dates.
Her manager books the place.
She can book on your website herself. Often the practice manager books for the whole team instead, pays by invoice (from Pro) against the practice’s PO, and adds the names once the rota is out.
The e-learning opens.
Her account shows the online part: the adult algorithm, a short video, then a quiz with its own pass mark. She can retake the quiz, and the next lesson stays locked until she passes.
She gets reminder emails.
Put a deadline on the e-learning and she is emailed as it comes due. The assessment date sends her reminder emails before it as well.
Assessed in the skills room.
The trainer runs the CPR and defibrillation assessment and marks her attended on the register. With the e-learning already finished, the course is now complete.
The certificate goes out.
Cademy issues her certificate, emails it and records its expiry date on the registration. From Pro, her CPD hours are added at the same time. Next winter she is due again, with last year’s registration still on file.

Cademy supports all our training formats, and the booking system is really easy for both us and our learners to use.
Trainings in several parts, with a certificate after the last.
EMDR and other therapy trainings often run in parts spread over several months, with reading, practice and supervision between them. The learner’s record has to stay complete through all of it.
CPD Today and EMDR Consultancy use Cademy for their courses.
Setting up the training
One course, from the first part to the last.
- Build it as a blended course, with each part’s live days placed in the outline as dated sessions
- Drip-release the reading for each part when that part begins
- Open the course forum so the group can ask questions between parts
- Take a deposit at booking and the rest in monthly installments
Supervision groups
- Live online dates, each with its own Zoom meeting
- A register for every session
- CPD hours awarded on attendance, from Pro
- A certificate of attendance issued from the register
Training a whole care home on site.
Care homes, GP surgeries and dental practices often want one session at their own premises for all their staff, on a day that fits the rota. From Pro, give that client a private date at their address. The manager books the places now and says who is coming later.
| Name | Status | Attendance |
|---|---|---|
| ARAnna Reid | Confirmed | Attended |
| TRTom Reid | Confirmed | Attended |
| LALena Adeyemi | Confirmed | Attended |
| RWRuth Walsh | Confirmed | Absent |
| DPDan Price | Confirmed | Attended |
The manager who booked
- After paying, the manager can still change who is coming, and swap in a replacement when someone is off sick.
- Pays by invoice with the PO number printed on it, from Pro. On Teams the invoice reaches Xero with the PO
- Downloads the team’s certificates from the order once the course is done
The client’s record
- Staff link to the home through their email domain
- A parent organization for a care group, with each home under it
- Every in-house date and every registration for that client, listed on its record
- Group bookings and registration

Cademy makes managing bookings simple whether it’s in-person or online. The calendar sync, payments and scheduling all just work together, and it’s great being able to embed everything straight into our own site.

What to hand the inspector.
CQC inspectors ask care providers for staff training records, usually kept as a training matrix. Sort registrations by certificate expiry, filter to a client or a course, and export the list for the inspector with each person’s attendance and certificate dates.

- A view link on every certificate that an auditor can open. Revoke a certificate and its link stops working.
- A client’s registrations on its organization record, for the home that wants its own copy.
- Scheduled exports daily, weekly or monthly, and the API and webhooks for your HR or rostering system, on Teams.
Awarding-body rules and accredited courses are covered on regulated and accredited training. A trust or care group training only its own staff may also want corporate learning and development. The certificates page has more on expiry dates and view links.
Questions from clinical trainers.
When does a blended update count as complete?
When both parts are done. The certificate waits until the learner has finished the online lessons and the trainer has marked them attended at the face-to-face session. Until then the registration shows the course as in progress.
Can we use the SCORM e-learning we already have?
Yes. SCORM 1.2 packages run inside the course on Teams. You can also build the online part in Cademy itself, with video, downloads and quizzes, on any plan.
Where are a learner’s CPD hours recorded?
On their registration, from Pro. Cademy awards CPD points and hours automatically when the learner attends or completes, so the figure is there when they need it for revalidation or an appraisal.
Can a care home book places before the rota is done?
Yes. The manager books a group of places and adds staff names afterwards. People can be swapped in and out, and when the course is over the manager downloads the whole team’s certificates from the order.
How do I show an inspector who is in date?
Filter registrations to that client, or leave them all in, and sort by certificate expiry. The CSV export carries attendance, completion and certificate dates, and every certificate has its own view link.
Can a multi-part therapy training be paid in installments?
Yes. A deposit anywhere from 1 to 95% is taken at booking, and the balance follows in 2 to 12 monthly installments. From Pro, a learner or their employer can also pay by invoice.
