Blended learning platformTheory before the room, the certificate after both.
Put the theory into online lessons with a knowledge check at the end, and each learner works through them at home before the date they booked. They arrive for the practical with the theory covered and the quiz passed. Once the register says Attended and every lesson is done, Cademy issues the certificate.
For first aid, manual handling, care updates, F-Gas, assessor training and any other course that ends with hands-on work in a room. The trainer’s day gets shorter, since the theory is done before anyone arrives.
One learner’s course, in two lanes.
A blended course in Cademy is a single course holding online lessons and bookable dates. The learner books a date, their lessons are timed around it, and their registration reads In Progress until both lanes reach the end.
Online, at home
Opens when they book. Due before the date.
- The lessons are waiting in their account once the booking goes through: a welcome video from the trainer, a PDF to read, the theory in short parts.
- A quiz closes each section. Set it as required and the button reads Complete Quiz to Continue until they reach the pass mark, with the lessons after it locked.
- Each lesson carries its deadline, for example Due 1 day before your course starts. Cademy emails them two days out, one day out, on the day, and once more if it slips past.
- After the last lesson, their course page shows Online portion complete.
In person, on the date
The date they picked at checkout, with its venue and trainer.
- Reminder emails go out seven days, one day and one hour ahead of the start. A new course has all three switched on.
- That morning the trainer opens the course’s Progress tab and sees, lesson by lesson, who has finished, who has started and who has not opened anything.
- During the day, each person is marked Attended or Absent on the register. A mark saves as soon as it is pressed.
- The next day, the follow-up email reaches everyone marked Attended.
The certificate
When every session is marked Attended and the published lessons reach 100%, the registration changes to Completed on its own. Cademy issues the certificate and, with that email switched on, sends it to the learner, whose Get Certificate button now works. The person who booked them is notified as well. Give the course an expiry period if the qualification has one.
The lanes can finish in either order. A learner who attends with a lesson still open sees it marked Overdue, can complete it for as long as their course access lasts, and gets the certificate on the day they do.

Blended40% CompleteSet the deadline against the date, and each learner gets their own.
Start a new course and choose Blended course as its format. Dates go in as usual, each with its venue, price and number of places. The online part sits on the Contents tab, and every learner works through the same lessons whichever date they chose.
- Sections of lessons built from blocks: an uploaded video, a YouTube embed, a PDF, a file to download, a quiz
- Quiz questions as multiple choice, short answer, number, long text or file upload, with a pass mark and a cap on retakes if you want one
- A Schedule on every lesson: open it straight away or a number of days before the course starts, and make it due a day before, or after the course ends for follow-up work
- Dates sold one at a time or as a block of sessions, for a practical that runs over two or three days
- E-learning you already own, as a SCORM 1.2 package in a lesson on Teams
A lesson due a day before the course starts falls due on September 29 for someone booked on September 30, and on October 7 for someone booked on October 8. Move a learner to another date and their deadlines move with them.
The course builder and the LMS pages cover the rest of the editor.
The theory is marked before anyone walks in.
Multiple choice, short answer and number questions are scored the moment a learner submits. By the morning of the practical, the trainer has a list of who passed and can go straight to the practical work. Trainers see the Registrants and Progress tabs for the dates you give them, and take the register there.

Before the start
- Progress per lesson, filtered to Completed, Started or Not Started
- Quiz results on each learner’s registration
- An email to the trainer after each failed attempt, if you turn on Notify Me When a Student Fails
- Written answers and uploads marked by hand, as Passed or Not Passed
The register
- Attended or Absent for each person, saved without a Save button
- Mark Attendance for the whole room at once
- A mark per session when the practical runs over more than one day
- Absent records a no-show and leaves the booking and payment alone
Afterwards
- A Completion column and filter on your registrations
- Print Evidence Pack… for one learner, with attendance, lesson progress, quiz answers and certificate dates
- Certificates issued to the people who finished both parts
- How certificates issue and expire
Courses that end in a practical.
First aid and resuscitation
- The primary survey and the recovery position can be learned from a screen. Compressions on a manikin and a go with the AED trainer cannot.
Health and care updates
- Yearly mandatory training for care staff and clinical skills updates, with e-learning first and a face-to-face session or assessment to sign it off.
- Health and care training
Manual handling
- Legislation and the principles of a safe lift fit in two short lessons. The trainer’s time then goes on watching people move the loads they handle at work.
F-Gas and electrical
- Regulations and calculations go into lessons with a quiz. Brazing and the practical assessment stay in the workshop, on the rigs you have.
- Technical and trades training
Fire marshal and fire safety
- Fire classes, evacuation plans and the marshal’s duties make a short set of lessons and a quiz. Handling an extinguisher on a training fire is the part that needs a site and an instructor.
Assessor training
- Candidates upload written work and answer long-text questions online, marked by your assessors, before an observed session in person. One learner’s evidence prints as a single pack.
Before you move the theory online.
What happens if someone turns up without finishing the lessons?
Mark them Attended as you would anyone else. Their registration stays In Progress, the unfinished lesson shows Overdue, and they can still complete it while their course access lasts. The certificate issues once that last lesson is done.
Do lesson deadlines change when a learner moves to another date?
Yes. A due date set before or after the course starts is worked out from the date the learner is booked on, so moving them recalculates it. Lessons they have finished stay finished, and their attendance is marked again on the new date.
Can a blended course have a practical that runs over several days?
Yes. Add each day as a date and choose Block, or Block or Individually, in the “How are the dates booked?” setting. For a block, a lesson due before the course starts counts from the first session, and the register takes a mark for every session.
Can trainers check the online part before the day?
Yes. A trainer with the Facilitator role sees the Progress tab, with quiz results, for any course and date they have been given, and can mark quiz answers. Turn on Notify Me When a Student Fails in a quiz and they get an email after each failed attempt.
Can the online part stay on another platform?
Yes. Turn on Host Externally in the course’s Advanced Settings and add the link and login steps, which learners see once their booking qualifies for access. With no published lessons in Cademy, attendance on the date completes the course. On Teams you can upload a SCORM 1.2 package into a lesson instead.
Which plan do I need?
Blended courses, quizzes, lesson deadlines and the default certificate are on every plan, Free included. Pro, at £99 ($129) a month billed yearly, adds your own certificate templates and CPD points or hours. SCORM 1.2 packages need Teams.
