Teachable alternativeA Teachable alternative for courses that also run on a date.

Teachable is a platform for selling online courses, coaching and digital downloads. If your training adds classroom or Zoom dates to online lessons, Cademy runs both in one course, with company bookings and certificates that expire.

Following one course

One blended course, from booking to certificate.

A company books staff onto a course with online lessons before a classroom day, and each learner needs a certificate with an expiry date.

Teachable's help center describes a Zoom block with one date and time inside a lesson, and certificates issued once every lecture is marked complete. Its Bulk Distribution tools for organizations are in beta, and its continuing education page puts the expiry date on enrollment.

Around the online course

What Cademy adds for training that runs on a schedule.

Dates people book

In-person, live online and blended dates share one calendar, with month, week and timeline views. Each Zoom date gets its own meeting, and reminders go out a week, a day and an hour before.

Bookings from employers

A team's booker buys the places, fills in names later and tracks each attendee's progress and certificates. Cademy groups contacts under their employer using the email domain.

Certificates from attendance

Mark a learner attended, and the certificate is emailed, carrying an expiry date where the course has one. If the course is blended, the certificate follows once the online part is complete as well. CPD points and hours are added from Pro.

Sales without a Cademy cut on paid plans

On Pro and Teams, Cademy takes 0% of each sale, leaving your payment provider's card fees as the only per-sale cost. Teachable's Starter plan takes 7.5% of each sale.

Choosing between them

Cases where Teachable makes more sense.

Stay on Teachable if

  • You sell self-paced courses, coaching or digital downloads to individuals, with nothing on a calendar.
  • Your audience is large. Every Teachable plan lists unlimited students.
  • You want a student community or a built-in affiliate program, both listed on Teachable's Builder and Growth plans.
  • Your students learn on Teachable's iOS and Android apps.

Move to Cademy if

  • Some of your courses run in a classroom or on Zoom on set dates.
  • Employers buy places for their teams and want to settle by invoice.
  • Certificates need an expiry date, CPD points or issuing on attendance.

Moving from Teachable

Moving your students and course content from Teachable.

Teachable emails you CSV exports of users and transactions, and every Cademy plan lets you import them yourself. Teams adds help from our team, and Enterprise comes with a migration we carry out for you.

1

Export from Teachable

Export the Users and Transactions lists as CSV, then download the videos and PDFs from each lesson block.

2

Rebuild the courses

Add sections and lessons, upload the video and files, and set quizzes with a pass mark. Add classroom or Zoom dates where a course has them.

3

Import your students

Load the users and transactions CSVs to create contacts, organizations, registrations and orders.

4

Publish course by course

Keep each new course unpublished while current students finish on Teachable, then publish it.

Questions

Before leaving Teachable.

Can Cademy host online courses like Teachable?
