This class will be held over 5 consecutive weeks for 2.5 hours. What You'll Learn:
Tracing Your Pattern Size: Learn how to trace your pattern size from the original pattern to preserve it for future use, a vital skill for ensuring your garments are precise and tailored.
Measuring yourself: Learn how to correctly measure yourself and select the correct size to make.
Pattern Reading and Fabric Cutting: Understand how to read a simple skirt pattern and cut your fabric accurately to ensure a perfect fit.
Constructing a Waistband: Create a stylish waistband with a gathered design at the back for comfort and a fixed front waistband for a polished look.
Adding Pockets: Learn how to insert pockets seamlessly, adding both functionality and style to your skirt.
Seam Finishing with an Overlocker: Master the use of an overlocker to finish your seams professionally, giving your skirt a clean and durable finish.
What to Bring:
Fabric of your choice (pre-washed and ironed details provided on booking, a small selection of fabrics are available to purchase in the studio). We will not be cutting fabric until the second week of the class
Matching thread
Basic sewing kit (scissors, pins, measuring tape, etc.)
Notebook and pen for taking notes

Use of a sewing machine if you don't have one, and overlockers
Step-by-step instructions and personal guidance from an experienced instructor
Tea, coffee, and light refreshments (Bring a packed lunch or use the onsite cafe)

These classes run with no more than 2 people to allow for maximum individual attention and help.

If you want to bring your own sewing kit (scissors, rotary cutter etc,) and/or sewing machine, you are more than welcome to do so. However, there are machines available to use. If you want to get to know your own machine, then please do bring it along
Tea, coffee, squash and some snacks will be available. You may wish to bring your own cup. If you need to bring lunch, then please bring a packed lunch. There is a small fridge in the studio.
There are some shops around the corner if you wish to purchase food on the day.
Materials are provided for this class.
Included in the cost are the pattern pieces you will create. If you require fabric, there is a small selection available in the studio, however, it is a limited selection. This would be an additional cost
