Learn to Sew Your Own Custom Wrap Skirt!

Ever wanted to make a skirt that fits you perfectly, without the hassle of restrictive commercial patterns? In this fun, beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn how to draft, cut, and sew a gorgeous wrap skirt tailored to your exact measurements!

Because this skirt is draft-as-you-go (similar to a circle skirt), it’s incredibly versatile. You can make it using brand-new fabric from your favorite store or give vintage textiles—like tablecloths, bedsheets, or curtains—a stylish second life!

What You’ll Learn

  • Easy Math, Big Results: How to measure your waist and do simple calculations to get the perfect wrap fit.

  • Smart Layouts: Understanding how your fabric’s width determines the length of your skirt.

  • Hemming Made Simple: How to use bias binding to finish your curved edges smoothly and easily.

  • Sturdy Ties: Topstitching techniques to create neat, strong ties that wrap comfortably around your waist.

What to Bring

1. Your Fabric (New or Upcycled!)

Bringing your own fabric ensures you end up with a skirt you’ll absolutely love wearing. Lightweight to medium-weight woven fabrics work best—think cotton, linen, rayon, or soft vintage linens.

  • How much to buy:Fabric Needed=Your Desired Skirt Length+ 32cm (12")

(The extra 12 inches gives us plenty of fabric for your waistband and ties!)

  • A Quick Tip on Length: Wider fabrics (like 58" or 60") give you room for a longer skirt, while narrower fabrics (like 44") work great for mini or knee-length styles! Please note that the waist size combined with fabric width does limit length

2. Bias Binding for the Hem

  • Feel free to bring your own double-fold bias binding if you want a specific color or contrast trim for your hem.

Don't worry if you don't have any—I’ll have available in the studio for you to use!

I do have some cotton fabrics (42/44" wide) which you may purchase if you prefer

What I Provide:

  • Interfacing for your waistband and ties.

  • A selection of standard bias binding in the studio for your hem.

  • BONUS INCLUDED: After the workshop, I will email you your very own personalised pattern based on your custom measurements! You'll be able to reuse it to recreate endless wrap skirts at home.
