Hello, my name is Claire Stent from Serene Tai Chi and I am a Tai Chi instructor of more than 30 years' experience. I studied yang style (long form) Tai Chi with the Taoist Tai Chi Society of Great Britain in Essex and have been freelance since 2017. I teach in Barnet in the evenings only and have a new beginners' class starting on Tuesdays at 7:45pm to 8:45pm from 5th September 2023 in St Peter's Parish Hall which is just behind the Mary Immaculate and St Peter's Church at number 63 Somerset Road, New Barnet, Herts EN5 1RE. There's a car park at the back of the church (down the right hand side of the church building) and St Peter's Parish Hall is over on the right hand side.

Tai Chi is based on a martial art but is only taught as an exercise. It is a gentle Chinese exercise focussing on turning and stretching of the spine and all the internal organs are massaged too. It's called an internal exercise as well as a moving meditation. With practice, it helps to improve co-ordination, flexibility and balance. The first two sessions in September will be taster sessions at £10 per session, then if you wish to continue, it's £20 for the rest of that month, then £50 for October and £40 for November - payable in the first Tuesday of each month. Cash or bank transfer payments are acceptable (bank details upon request).

If you'd like to join a taster session, please come along and wear comfortable clothing and soft-soled shoes as you'll be moving across the floor. You can bring a soft drink/water if needed in the break time. No previous experience is necessary.
