Every year people die or are seriously injured in the workplace, often unnecessarily. Just knowing the basic skills of life support can be critical to ensuring someone who is ill or injured is given the appropriate assistance until the medical professionals take over. As an employer you have a legal obligation to meet first aid regulations appropriate to your business’s requirements.
The aim of the course is -
This course is designed to provide candidates with a knowledge and understanding of the principles and practice of First Aid as laid down in the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, to enable them to recognise cases of injury or illness, and provide Emergency First Aid treatment at the scene of an accident or incident.

Course Content
The Role of the First Aider
Incident and Casualty Assessment (Scene Survey, Primary Survey and Calling for Help)
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – CPR (The Unresponsive Casualty who is not breathing normally)
Unconscious Casualty (Assessing Consciousness, Recovery Position)
Management of Seizure
Choking
External Bleeding and Hypovolaemic Shock
Minor Injuries (Small cuts, grazes, bruises, minor burns, scalds and splinters)
Course Objectives -
On successful completion of this course, candidates will be qualified in Emergency First Aid at Work and will have sufficient knowledge and practical skills to recognise cases of injury or illness and provide Emergency First Aid treatment at the scene of an accident or incident. Candidates will be able to:
Assess a first aid incident and assess a casualty
Understand the basic functions of the respiratory system, circulatory system and skeletal system
Manage an unresponsive casualty who is NOT breathing normally
Manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
Recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
Manage a casualty with external bleeding and hypovolaemic shock
Manage a casualty with minor injuries
Venue - Either on-site at clients’ premises or at a Training Centre
