Spiritual Direction and Deep Listening: Hearing Beyond Words
An exploration in four movements
Hosted by Maria Manuela Silva
Maria Manuela Silva, born in Lisbon way back when, has lived all her adult life in the UK. Her search for wisdom and insight led her to study Theology and Human Geography as well as training as a Spiritual Director. Prior to retirement, she worked in one of London's most economically and ethnically diverse boroughs in the field of education, designing learning and teaching resources and contributing to the design and delivery of Wellbeing programmes. Barely retired, Maria was invited to follow Julie Dunstan as the Director of Encounter, the LCSD's course in Spiritual Direction. She regularly contributes to LCSD's Developing Direction programme and co-tutors on the Supervision Skills Course for Spiritual Directors. Three years ago she moved to Canterbury and is now an active member of the Canterbury and Rochester Spiritual Accompaniment network. With a keen interest in the Enneagram, Maria is passionate about human flourishing, spiritual formation, and her three grandchildren. Given all this, she now identifies as semi-retired!
Inspired by the four distinct movements of the traditional Classical symphony, Maria hopes to facilitate a refreshing encounter with the art and craft of listening deeply. She very much hopes you will bring your curiosity, insights and willingness to share out of your own experience.
