Created to bridge the gap between application training and true professional understanding, SkinSmart Level 2 gives you the knowledge most technicians were never taught — and the confidence to work at a higher standard.

Module 2 – Skin Conditions & Tanning Impact Understanding eczema, psoriasis, acne, rosacea, sensitivity and compromised skin — and how these affect tanning results and safety.

Module 3 – The Science of Tanning Solutions & Bases Colour theory, DHA development, base colours, formulation differences, alcohol content, ingredients, and how solutions truly behave on different skins.

Module 4 – Lifestyle, Wellness & Hormones How stress, sleep, hydration, diet, hormones, medication, and lifestyle directly impact skin quality and tanning outcomes.

Module 5 – Skin & Tanning for Black, Asian, and Diverse Skin Tones Melanin, undertones, colour adaptation, common challenges, and professional approaches to diverse skin types.

Module 6 – Professional Practice & Client Care Consultation mastery, ethics, boundaries, patch testing, risk management, professionalism, and client communication.

Module 7 – Beauty, Clinic & Wellness Treatments Understanding laser, peels, microneedling, injectables, skincare treatments, and how they interact with tanning.

Module 8 – The Truth About Sunbeds & UV What clients are really exposed to, skin damage, misinformation, and how to advise professionally.

Module 9 – Sun, Vitamin D & Sunscreens The role of sunlight, vitamin D, SPF, and how to educate clients responsibly.

Module 10 – Body Skincare: Healthy Skin, Healthy Tan Exfoliation, hydration, barrier support, and how body skin health affects tan development and longevity.

Module 11 – Face Skincare: Supporting Skin Health & Spray Tan Results Facial skincare, sensitivity, active ingredients, treatments, and how to protect facial results.

Module 12 – Men's Face & Body Care Male skin differences, grooming, skincare needs, and tanning considerations.

Module 13 – Advanced Skincare, Ingredients & Life Stages Retinol, acids, actives, pregnancy, menopause, ageing skin, and how life stages affect skin and tanning.

Module 14 – Skin in the Modern Age: Product Overload, Peptides & the Informed Technician The reality of what modern skincare routines are doing to skin — and to tanning results. Why clients are unknowingly sabotaging their own tans with oil-based scrubs, retinol body products, perfumed oils, and layered actives. Covers GLP-1 medications and rapid weight loss skin, peptides including GHK-Cu, BPC-157, NAD+, and collagen peptides, the risks of carotene supplements and injectable tanning, and how to conduct a full client skincare audit. This is the module that makes you the most educated person in the room.

In-Person Study Days — Included With Your Course

As a SkinSmart Level 2 student, you are invited to attend our optional monthly in-person study days — included in your course fee at no extra cost.

These relaxed expert-led days run from 11am to 3pm and give you the chance to go through the course content in person, see professional bases demonstrated live, ask questions directly, and connect with other serious tanning professionals from around the country.

Held monthly at two alternating locations — Cheshire and a rotating second venue — they are designed to be easy to get to wherever you are in the UK. Both locations offer excellent transport links, with major motorway access and mainline train stations nearby.

This is not a formal classroom. It is a room full of professionals who take their work seriously — led by someone with nearly 30 years of industry experience — where real questions get real answers.
