The key to a confident birth experience is knowledge and education. This workshop will guide you through the process.
Everybody's birth wishlist is different. One person might wish for an intervention free water birth, another might want all the drugs available. But the one similarity? Is it the birth they want.
When it comes to birth, such a huge event in your life, it doesn't make sense to leave it up to chance. You will remember how you felt on that day for the rest of your life, you need to prepare ahead of time and understand what is important to you.
An intervention free birth takes a whole lot of knowledge, confidence and self-trust. Knowledge to stand up for your wishes, and knowledge to know if and when that might not be safe for you and your baby.
A hospital birth with all the drugs takes a whole lot of knowledge, confidence and self-trust. Knowledge of implications of drugs, and how it can impact your birth journey. And importantly, how you can give yourself the best chance of avoiding these outcomes.
A middle ground between the two takes just as much knowledge, confidence and self-trust. To know when to try a different approach, how decisions can lead you down a path that you don’t want (or even do want!) and how you can best support your decisions with your actions and behaviours.
This workshop will guide you through the basics of what you need to do to prepare for birth.
We’ll talk about:
• The main locations for giving birth and how this can impact birth outcomes – the facts and the figures
• The medical versus physiological model of birth – and how this can impact birth outcomes
• Hormones and how they play a vital part in birth
• An introduction to how your body helps you during pregnancy and birth
• How you can confidently prepare for the biggest day of your life.
