Working is making desirable changes in the environment through human activity. Work can be both physical and mental. In an economic context one speaks of labor. A distinction is made between paid and unpaid work. Unpaid work for third parties that does not involve coercion is called voluntary work. Unpaid work for third parties that involve coercion is called slavery. Labor in people under the age of 12 is called child labor.
