What style of yoga is it?

Not all yoga is created equal! Roo teaches a modern style of yoga that has been developed by a physiotherapist and neurologist, providing movement education for both your body and your brain. This innovative method provides a smarter, safer, and more effective approach to yoga and movement. Working from the ground up with intelligent sequencing and emotional awareness, this movement practise is designed to retrain your habits, correct postural imbalances, and teach you how to hold yourself and move through space - so that you can stand tall, move with confidence, and feel empowered for LIFE!

Come and feel the difference!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need a yoga mat?

All mats and equipment are provided, but feel free to bring your own mat if you would prefer to use it

  • What should I wear? Do I need to bring anything else?

Please bring a water bottle, and wear clothes that you are comfortable moving in - sports kit is ideal. Expect to be moving around a lot on your mat!

You may also want an extra layer for warmth and comfort during relaxation at the end.

Barefoot is highly recommended - ground connection and foot mobility is vital to the quality of your movement. Even grippy yoga-style socks can actually prevent your feet from moving as freely. However, if you are desperate to have your feet covered up, I won't stop you! If you do use any correct-toes/toe spreaders, these are actually fantastic to wear during your practise so do feel free to bring them along!

When you arrive you will be shown where you can leave your shoes, along with any coats or bags, at the back of the room.

Mats and blocks are provided - but you can bring your own mat as well if you prefer - yogi's choice :)

  • How does block booking work?

ou have the option to drop-in for 1 class (£11), or block book for 6 classes (£54). These are 6 consecutive classes that begin from the week you book them on.

When there is a break (for example, over the summer), your 6 week block will be "paused" for the duration of the break, and start again when classes resume.

Roo will keep you informed of any breaks well ahead of time - typically classes run during term time, and pause over school holidays.

There will be no classes carried forwards for any that you miss within the block unless in exceptional circumstances. Please see my refund policy for more information.

  • I’ve never done yoga before/it’s been a while! Can I come to your classes?

I welcome both beginner's and seasoned yogis to these classes. The classes are mixed-ability, so there are always options given to either modify postures down, or increase the challenge up. I aim to make you feel supported in your progress, wherever you are on your yoga journey.

  • I’m not very bendy, can I do yoga?

Yoga is not about contorting your body into crazy shapes (although that can be fun!). My classes focus less on getting into complicated postures, and more on centering into your core and balancing mobility and strength so that you feel great inside and out. If you’re not bendy, that’s not a problem. Yoga will assist you in relieving tension and gaining mobility in a safe and supported way. In fact, if you’re not bendy, that’s all the more reason to come to yoga!

  • Can men do yoga?

Absolutely! Yoga may be seen as a more “feminine” sport, but more and more men are turning to the yoga mat for a good workout, as well as to relieve stress and support their mental health and wellbeing. In fact, yoga was traditionally practised by men only, and not women! These days, it is very rare for me to have an all women’s class- you almost certainly won’t be the only man in the room.
