Intermediate level
Unlock your creativity and elevate your jewellery-making skills in this immersive workshop, where you'll discover how to craft intricate 3-dimensional jewellery designs using silver metal clay.
Designed for those who have completed a beginner’s course or have some experience working with metal clay, this intermediate-level class offers expert guidance, hands-on learning, and plenty of insider tips from Anna Campbell, one of the UK’s leading metal clay instructors.
What is silver metal clay?
Silver clay is a material manufactured from 100% recycled silver, a plant-based organic binder and water. The silver is recycled from X-rays, the photographic industry, electronics etc. It can be moulded and shaped like clay. Once dry, it can be fired and that is when the alchemy happens - the clay turns to solid hallmark quality silver. You don’t need a lot of tools and equipment to get started and all pieces made on this workshop can be fired with a crème brûlée torch.
On this workshop, you’ll design and create two pieces of silver jewellery:
Shadow box pendant. Dive into the world of dimensional design as you craft a beautiful shadow box pendant. You’ll learn how to build depth and structure into your jewellery, creating a piece that’s both eye-catching and full of personal meaning.
Pandora-style silver-wrapped bead. Add a modern, stylish element to your jewellery collection with a Pandora-style wrap bead. This versatile bead can be used on a bracelet or necklace.
Along the way, you’ll gain essential jewellery-making techniques, including:
Creating Bails
Learn how to make professional-quality bails, the essential loops that allow your pendant or bead to hang perfectly on a chain or cord.
Setting Fireable Stones
Discover how to incorporate fireable gemstones into your designs, adding colour and elegance to your creations
Building 3-Dimensional Jewellery
Master the art of constructing 3D pieces, bringing depth and complexity to your work while learning how to assemble and refine these intricate designs.
Tips, Tricks, and Finishing Techniques
Throughout the course, Anna will share a wealth of tips and tricks, from how to handle silver clay with ease to achieving a high-quality, polished finish on your final pieces.
This workshop offers an exciting opportunity to explore new techniques, expand your creative skills, and leave with two stunning pieces of jewellery that showcase your new abilities.
With expert guidance, hands-on practice, and plenty of room for creativity, this course is the perfect way to dive deeper into the fascinating world of 3D jewellery design. As these pieces are torch-fired, these are skills you can replicate at home too.

Favourite feedback
We love to hear what you think about our workshops. Here's a favourite review for our Silver clay boxes and beads workshop:
“Fantastic course with Anna! I thoroughly enjoyed this class, my favourite part was learning to construct a more 3D pendant. Anna is a great teacher and demonstrates and explains the techniques in detail and has great tips on working with metal clay. The setting for the courses is great, just a short walk from Edinburgh Waverley if you are travelling, lots of space to work .. It was nice to learn more about Arienas collective too and the other courses that they offer, I would definitely recommend taking a class with Anna and at this venue.” [Joanne]
