decoding. Digital video formats: Old formats
(CIFâ¦), PC formats (VGAâ¦), SD, HD, UHD.
Video codecs
What is a CODEC, pictures and audio,
digitisation, sampling, quantisation, encoding,
compressing.
Codec types
Lossy, lossless, uncompressed. Quality,
bandwidth.
Video
Fps, bitstreams, pictures, frames, fields. Aspect
ratios.
Colour
Colour perception, RGB, YUV, YCbCr sampling,
4:00, 4:2:0, 4:2:2, 4:4:4.
Hybrid video coding scheme
Picture partitioning, intra prediction, inter
prediction, motion estimation, residual coding, in
loop filtering, entropy coding.
