Whether you have dabbled with Wet Felting before or not this is a great way to include this fantastic craft in your home. You can create a unique lampshade to decorate your home and learn two new skills - Feltmaking and Lampshade making! The lampshades can be used either to hang from a pendant or to top a lamp.
Day One: Using a range of wools in their unseen form with additional fibres such as silk, linen and banana you will design and make a piece of felt fabric. You will learn how to lay the wool and other fibres and apply wet felting techniques to bond the fibres together. At the end of this first half day session you will have a piece of flat fabric which you will go on to make your lampshade with.
Day Two: Using the felt fabric prepared in the first session you will make your lampshade. You will have a short while to needle felt or stitch any additional details into your design. Then we will learn how to cut your felt fabric to size, adhere a fire resistant backing and shade rings, to construct your lampshade. This session will give you a basic understanding of how to make a drum lampshade.
This workshop takes place over two part days, please look carefully at the timings for each day.
