Pediatric First Aid Course

This Pediatric First Aid (PFA) course is specifically designed to meet the needs of those working in childcare settings, including childminders, carers, and educators. This course meets and exceeds the regulatory requirements set by EYFS, CSSIW, and SureStart, making it ideal for anyone needing a 2-day, 12-contact-hour qualification. The course covers essential first aid skills required for caring for infants and children, including CPR, choking management, injury care, and the treatment of medical emergencies.

On request we offer group bookings for up to 6 people at £160 per person, or for groups of up to 12 at £140 per person. Training can be delivered either at your location or at one of our training venues in Peterborough or Ely.

Course Overview

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of how to handle emergency situations involving infants and children. It includes the latest guidelines from the UK Resuscitation Council and HSE, and is independently certified to conform to CPD standards. Participants can choose between a full classroom course or a blended learning option, where online video training is completed before attending a practical one-day classroom session.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Perform CPR and use the recovery position for infants and children.

  • Administer first aid for choking, bleeding, shock, and other common injuries.

  • Recognise and treat medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, allergic reactions, meningitis, and more.

  • Safely manage incidents involving electric shock, burns, and poisoning.

  1. Managing Paediatric Illness, Injuries, and Emergencies:

  • First aid for fractures, head/spinal injuries, asthma, allergic reactions, and other medical conditions.

  • Handling incidents of extreme temperatures, electric shock, burns, poisoning, and anaphylaxis.

Blended Learning Option

For those who wish to save time in the classroom, our blended learning option allows you to complete the theory online at your convenience before attending a one-day classroom session.
