Pilates is a series of exercises created by the German born Joseph Pilates in the 1920s. His method aimed to improve posture and strengthen the core – the powerhouse of the body – which helps with balance and gives our limbs a solid base from which to push, lift and perform dynamic movement. Modern science has enhanced Joe’s repertoire making it safer and more applicable to our bodies. I teach Standing Pilates, Mat Pilates, and Chair Pilates for all age groups and specialisms. All bodies can achieve in a Pilates class. Group classes are a great way to achieve consistency of Pilates practice, and 1:1 sessions can complement your training by assessing specifics in your posture and function. Pilates exercises can be broken down or layered together to increase or decrease difficulty.
