Tutors, trainers, and assessors increasingly support learners whose behaviour is influenced by complex psychological, social, and neurological factors.
This workshop provides the practical knowledge and confidence needed to manage challenging behaviour while creating safe, trauma-informed learning environments.
Through exploring adolescent brain development, neurodiversity, the impact of ACEs, and the PACE model, participants learn effective, compassionate strategies to build trust, reduce escalation, and improve engagement.
With hands-on tools and restorative approaches, this training helps staff respond to behaviour with understanding rather than frustration — ultimately improving learner outcomes and classroom relationships.
Delivered by an experienced post-16 education consultant and fully Panda Approved, this workshop is essential for anyone working with learners aged 16+ in FE, work-based learning or community settings.
Participants will gain a practical understanding of how to create supportive, trauma-informed learning environments and use strategies to manage and reduce challenging behaviour effectively.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
Describe key influences on adolescent behaviour, including brain development and neurodiversity.
Explain the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and trauma on learning and behaviour.
Apply the PACE model (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) in their interactions with learners.
Use trauma-informed and restorative approaches to build positive relationships.
Implement practical de-escalation tools and teaching strategies to support engagement and emotional regulation.
Delivered by our experience post-16 education consultant, this one-day workshop has been designed for tutors, trainers, assessors, and support staff working with learners aged 16+ in FE, work-based learning, or community settings.
