About Orion Training & Development
The Motor Vehicle Maintenance Level 1 is ideal for students who want to try working with cars to see if they enjoy it. Training takes place at our Motor Vehicle Training Centre including Employability and Functional Skills. The vocational course consists of 50% practical work on live, working cars within the purpose-built Training Centre and 50% theory based work. Assessment is carried out via e-portfolio. COURSE CONTENT This qualification covers all aspects involved with maintenance and repair of cars including: • Health and Safety • Tools, equipment and materials • Spark Ignition Systems (Petrol) and Compression Ignition Systems (Diesel) • Engine Cooling and Lubrication • Steering and Suspension • Wheels and Tyres • Fuel, Ignition, Air and Exhaust Systems • Removing and Replacing Engine Units and Components • Braking Systems • Driveline Maintenance • Employability Skills Students can also complete Functional Skills in Math’s, English and ICT at varying levels depending on ability level. Students can be expected to be challenged to achieve as high a qualification as they can.
