The new NADIS online herd health planners designed to help improve health, performance and parasite control.
Since NADIS was launched in 1995, our emphasis has been on promoting disease prevention through “active” veterinary health planning. The new planners have been designed to enable vets to carry out bespoke health plans both on farm and remotely, in a time efficient way, managing the plans throughout the year and complying with the requirements of the Defra AH&W Pathway, those of the devolved governments and farm assurance. A printable/ downloadable pdf document is created which can be inserted into any health planning documentation as required by farm assurance or government. Using NADIS material a bespoke “active” veterinary health plan can be produced in significantly less time, reducing costs and increasing farmer uptake.
The online plans enable you to interact with your farmers remotely with automated text message reminders for your farmers when you action interventions or planner updates.
The plans help you with:
Disease investigation: Follow up disease investigations remotely, updating lab results, monitoring diseases incidence and outcomes
Testing/Vaccination: Plan testing and vaccination programmes
Parasite control: Control parasites in line with SCOPS/COWs latest resistance recommendations
Performance parameters: Track performance parameters year on year in response to your interventions
Biosecurity: Assess biosecurity risks on farm prioritising high risk factors
Reports: A printable/ downloadable pdf document is created which can be inserted into any health planning documentation as required by farm assurance or government.
The planners have been designed in a visual, interactive format to engage your farmers in veterinary health planning - the most effective way of preventing disease and improving livestock performance.
We hope you will be able to join us on one of our weekly live zoom demonstrations with Phillipa Page and Rachel Forster, well known farm vets to help you deliver veterinary health planning and the pathway.
CATTLE
Disease Challenges: Disease challenges for the farm can be selected from the dropdown list and comments added. Additional information on disease control and prevention for relevant diseases is provided.
Investigation: Monitor disease investigations remotely, updating lab results, monitoring disease prevalence and outcomes.
Testing and Vaccination: A testing and vaccination programme can be developed quickly for the diseases that challenge the farm, either whilst on farm or later on-line. The planner can be updated remotely with test results or further actions as required. Farmers are reminded of any actions you have added to the planners by automated text message.
Parasite control plan: The planners have been designed so you can remotely update all the actions required to control parasites incorporating the latest updates on controlling resistance from SCOPS/COWS. Farmers are reminded by actions you have added to the planners by automated text message.
Key performance indicators: Key performance indicators can be included in the table provided, helping you track herd performance with the farmer, year on year.
Biosecurity: An interactive biosecurity farm risk assessment that records the level of risk for the biosecurity parameters likely to be present on farm, assists in completing the biosecurity assessment requirement for the animal health and welfare pathway. There is also a specific biosecurity risk assessment for BVD risk , as well as for other key infectious diseases of cattle. This can be completed on-line producing a report that prioritises the biosecurity parameters that are high risk.
Report: All the above information is automatically produced in one document including the farm and practices details which can then be submitted as required by the animal health and welfare pathway.

Resistance: Identifying whether anthelmintic resistance is present on farm is a key objective of the animal health and welfare pathway. The planner enables you to record FEC pre and post treatment, automatically assigning resistance level and is a simple way to record any failures in the drenching procedure which may have contributed to lower than expected efficacy. The planner can then help you to manage parasite control on farm more effectively and help you work towards slowing the development of further wormer resistance in the future.

The planner can be updated remotely with test results or further actions as required. Farmers are reminded of any actions you have added to the planners by automated text message.

This can be completed on-line producing a report that prioritises the biosecurity parameters that are high risk.
Parasite control plan: The planners have been designed so you can remotely update all the actions required to control sheep parasites incorporating the latest updates on controlling resistance from SCOPS/COWS. Farmers are reminded by actions you have added to the planners by automated text message.
Key performance indicators: Key performance indicators can be included in the table provided, helping you track flock performance with the farmer, year on year
Report: When required a report can be produced automatically that lists all the information relevant for the animal health and welfare pathway. Details of resistance testing including the drenching checklist, key performance parameters, biosecurity priorities and results of the parasite control plan are automatically presented in a single report which fulfils the relevant requirements of the animal health and welfare pathway.
