Guided Learning & Community Support for 12 Weeks
Learn how to design and customize a perfect fitting sweater using DK or 4ply/fingering weight yarn. From layout and shape to color placement and professional finishing, this 12-week course will guide you through every step with personalized assistance from expert crochet tutor, Merrian. You'll also be part of a small community of crochet students, all making the sweater together over the 12 weeks.
Continued Access to Resources
After the 12 weeks, you'll have lifetime access to all instructional videos and materials for continued learning or should you wish to make another sweater. Course materials are hosted on my Zenler site.
Win Prizes
If you complete your sweater within the 12 week timeframe, you'll also be in with a chance of winning a prize!
Skill Level
You must be able to crochet and have confidence in making the basic crochet stitches. This is NOT a learn to crochet course.
The course is running over 12 weeks, starting on Monday 22nd April and ending on Wednesday 17th July*.
Tuition is in the form of video demonstrations and written instructions & photo tutorials on my learning platform (you'll be sent login details when your enroll). The written instructions will also be available as downloadable PDFs.
Additional support is provided every Wednesday evening at 7:30pm (except for 29th May*) there will be a live Q&A call for 45 minutes. This will always be recorded and available to view the next day, on the learning platform.
If you are unable to make the Q&A call, questions can be submitted via the form or on the relevant post on the community* page.
Merrian will help with all aspects of the planning and will check and "sign-off" all designs to help ensure a successful result.
You can also receive help and support from the community and Merrian will be checking for messages once a day.
Content will be added to this learning platform in stages, as needed. This is to avoid overwhelm and to try and keep the group working at roughly the same pace to maximize the community support element.
You can work at your own pace - the course materials will be available to you after the 12 weeks, however, the community group and my tutor support will no longer be available, so I would highly recommend that you try your best to complete the course in the 12 weeks.
*I will have limited internet access during half term week (26th May- 2nd June) but will try my best to support you in that week.
1. Materials are not included. How much yarn and what type of yarn you need will be discussed in the first module.
2. I teach in US crochet terminology. I do initially make references to British crochet terminology to help those that have only ever used British terminology. There is no need to be concerned about this since the stitches are the same they just have different "labels". You will quickly get used to US terminology if you have only previously used British terminology. Crochet is an international craft and to enjoy and take advantage of all the different designers and techniques from all around the world, you will need to get used to using US terminology and also get into the habit of checking whether a pattern is written in British or US terminology.
3. The live Q&A sessions are exactly that - you ask me questions and I try to answer them as best as possible. They are not calls where I demonstrate techniques. There are extensive video tutorials for techniques.
