Meaningful Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) for learners with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)

Description

This one day virtual training course is for any teacher or educator working with people with profound and multiple learning disabilities who want to support them with some relationships and sex education.

Aims:

This course aims to develop confidence and skills in teachers and educators to develop and deliver a meaningful and accessible RSE curriculum for learners with PMLD.

Objectives:

· To explore the benefits of RSE for learners with PMLD, and the impact of quality, timely, and accessible RSE into adulthood

· To understand the statutory RSE guidance and the requirements to deliver RSE in SEND settings, including consultation with parents, and with learners.

· To identify teaching and learning methodology that may be effective for learners with PMLD to access RSE teaching.

· To consider which topics and areas of the curriculum are of greatest priority for learners with PMLD, and explore ways to deliver this content effectively

· To discuss strategies to address sexualised behaviour with learners with PMLD
