Planning and running family workshops
Tuesday 10 February, 10am-12.30pm
Do you want to know more about how to plan and facilitate family museum workshops, so they are suitable for a range of ages?
About this training
Many families participating in museum workshops will include siblings of different ages - who also may be at different developmental stages. By considering how different ages are likely to engage you can create activities that are fun, engaging and relevant to a wide range of families. Exploring different methods of facilitation can also help you to adapt your approach to support more participants during sessions.
This training webinar will be led by cultural heritage learning consultant Anna Salaman. She has thirty years’ experience immersed in the arts, heritage and cultural sectors, specialising in learning and participation, creativity and play. Anna has worked with organisations around the world including ArtScience Museum (Singapore), Discover Children’s Story Centre, the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum, and the V&A.
In this session, we will:
· think about the practicalities of running family workshops,
· learn about the developmental stages of children aged 0-12 to help you plan appropriate activities,
· gain an understanding of different facilitation styles to build confidence when interacting with children of different age groups,
· make plans to put the training into practice in your organisation.

This training will be delivered virtually on Zoom over one half-day session (two hours and 30 minutes with a short break).
Who should attend?
