LOOKING FOR: MG, YA, ADULT FICTION, ADULT NON-FICTION, NON-FICTION FOR 7+
Abi Fellows has incredibly broad experience in the industry, having started in bookselling at Blackwell's in 2001 following her BA in English Literature at Bristol University. After a stint on the sales team of Faber and Faber and a return to education to complete an MA in modernism and postmodernism at University College London, Abi began her agenting career with Georgina Capel Associates in 2004, assisting the primary agents and handling journalism and translation rights for the team. Abi then moved into literary scouting at RR Ltd for seven years, working with overseas publishers and TV and film production companies in the UK. In 2019 she returned to agenting at The Good Literary Agency, building a list focused on amplifying and championing writers from backgrounds that had traditionally been marginalised.
In 2023, Abi joined DHH Literary Agency and that year was shortlisted for Literary Agent of the Year at the British Book Awards.
Abi also has experience as a school governor with particular involvement in the schools' literacy programmes and their work with children who have special educational needs and are disabled. She currently sits on the board of New Writing South, having joined as a Trustee in 2023.
ADULT FICTION
Abi is looking for literary and upmarket fiction, book club fiction and some commercial fiction, with a particular interest in voices and perspectives that have often been marginalised by the industry. She loves fiction that uncovers forgotten or underrepresented periods of history, as well as contemporary story from fresh outlooks.
Abi is a keen and vocal champion of LGBTQIA+ stories, although her list is not exclusively queer. She is also a sucker for a good love story, across the board!
Abi is currently looking for upmarket crime and literary dystopia, but does not represent horror, fantasy or sci-fi.
ADULT NON FICTION
Abi has a keen interest in culture commentary, current affairs, smart thinking, feminism, polemic, memoir and history.
CHILDREN'S FICTION
Abi has wide taste in children's book but is not currently taking on picture books.
Abi would like you to submit a covering letter, 1 page synopsis and the first three chapters or 5,000 words of your manuscript in a single word document.
(In addition to the paid sessions, Abi is kindly offering one free session for low income/under-represented writers. Please email agent121@iaminprint.co.uk to apply, outlining your case for this option which is offered at the discretion of I Am In Print).
By booking you understand you need to conduct an internet connection test with I Am In Print prior to the event. You also agree to email your material in one document to reach I Am In Print by the stated submission deadline and note that I Am In Print take no responsibility for the advice received during your agent meeting.
