Description

EPALS is an advanced course that trains healthcare professionals in the early recognition of the child in respiratory or circulatory failure and management of a cardiac arrest. EPALS provides the knowledge and skills needed to prevent further deterioration and help to save young lives.

The EPALS course is a collaboration between Resuscitation Council UK and the European Resuscitation Council. It is endorsed by the Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health (RCPCH) and approved by the Royal Colleges of Emergency Medicine (RCEM), and Anaesthetics (RCoA), as well as the Association of Paediatric Anaesthetists (APAGBI). 

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I change my course date?

    More than 30 days from the course date we may have incurred costs in registering you and/or sending out manuals. You may move your course to an alternative date subject to paying an administration fee of £150.00.

    Within 30 days please contact us directly. 

  • Can I cancel my course?

    You must inform us immediately, in writing, if you are unable to attend the training course you are booked on to.  We reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee based on the amount of notice given.  

    More than 6 weeks from the course date a full refund is available OR we can transfer you for free on to an alternative date. 

    Between 6 weeks and 4 weeks from the course date you can receive a refund of 50% of the course fee.

    Between 4 weeks and the course date; we will have incurred costs in registering you and/or sending out manuals. 

    We will try our best to move your course to an alternative date (if availability allows and at our discretion) subject to paying an administration fee of £150.00 but will not eligible for any refund of course fees. 

    Within 4 weeks of the course date, no refunds are available. 

    You may only move your course date once. 

  • When will I receive my manual/login?

    We aim to send out manuals at least 4 weeks before the course date. All manuals are sent via Recorded Delivery from the Royal Mail.

    Logins are provided 4 weeks before the course date (or within 48 hours of your booking). 

  • Where is my manual?

    If you haven't received your manual 3 weeks before the course date, please contact us immediately. All deliveries are tracked and we can provide this information on request.

    Please note that there is currently Industrial Action within the Royal Mail that is outwith our control. 

  • I live abroad, can you post my manual overseas?

    Our course cost includes your manual and postage to any UK address. We are able to post overseas - please let us know where you live. An additional fee may apply. 

  • Where can I find my LMS login?

    This will be sent directly from RCUK once you have been registered. 

    You will be registered 4 weeks before the course (or within 48 hours of your booking).

    Some RCUK e-mails may be delivered to your Spam folder - please check this first.

  • What happens on an EPALS Course?

    This is a two day face-to-face course.

    Before your course, you will be registered on our Learning Management System (LMS). Here, you can access course modules, a pre-course multiple choice question (MCQ) paper.

    Candidates will receive their course manual one month before the course. Candidates are expected to submit a completed pre-course MCQ paper before the course begins. 

    Programme:

    Over the two days, candidates will take part in lectures, interactive workshops, skill stations and simulations focusing on deteriorating children with paediatric illnesses, cardiac arrest management and trauma.

    Assessment and certification:

    During the course, Candidates will be continuously assessed based on their performance in clinical simulations. You will be expected to show competency in the core skills of the course, including management of the critically ill/injured child, airway management, high quality CPR and defibrillation, and cardiac arrest management.

    The course ends with a final assessment, consisting of a simulation and an MCQ paper.
