It is with great pleasure and much pride that I welcome you to Avonbourne Boys’ and Girls’ Academies website. We are proud to be two non-selective 11-18 schools based in Bournemouth and incredibly privileged to be part of the multi–Academy Trust, United Learning. Avonbourne Academies are also extremely fortunate to be part of the Bournemouth and Poole Cluster, where we work closely, and share good practice with Glenmoor and Winton Academies, Avonwood Primary School and The Cornerstone Academy. At Avonbourne Academies, we believe that every child matters and every lesson counts, and we believe in the importance of creating well - rounded citizens who achieve academic excellence. Avonbourne is a highly inclusive school that caters for the needs of all students. We ensure our most able students are stretched academically and students with special educational needs and disabilities are expertly supported, allowing the Academies to ensure the best in everyone. We were delighted to celebrate excellent GCSE and A level results in the Summer showing the huge improvement already achieved at the Academies. Avonbourne Boys' and Girls' Academies are two co - located schools that joined United Learning in 2019 with lessons being taught in a single - sex environment in Years 7-9, with opportunities for mixed sex teaching from Year 10 onwards . This has proved to be hugely successful with resources, staffing expertise and curriculum opportunities now being fully utilised for the benefit of all students at the Academies. Co-location has been seen by all stakeholders as offering the ‘best of both’, which I believe provides our students with the best possible chance of educational success. The school also hosts the United Sixth Form and provides teaching of the highest quality, excellent facilities, a caring and supportive environment, as well as delivering a comprehensive range of social and enrichment activities. As an organisation, we expect everyone to embrace our core REACH values of respect, equality, ambition, community, hard work & determination. Students can access a huge number of extra-curricular opportunities across the Academies, and I am hugely proud of our sports teams, creative performers and STEM enthusiasts. The founder of Peony Blue, Jonna, spent her childhood running wild in the beautiful nature of Finland. The winters were spent enjoying the snowy landscapes and muted colours, and summers spent listening to the wind in the trees and the sound of waves at her grandparents' summer cottage on a small island. These memories have given her a huge love and appreciation of the nature around us. Jonna uses her roots deep in Nordic nature as a constant inspiration for her work and is committed to being respectful of the environmental impact made by her industry. Since graduating Jonna has explored many ways of creating floral designs using natural, biodegradable and recyclable materials. In the early years of Peony Blue, Jonna concentrated on wedding work and creating gorgeous wedding flowers for her clients as well as teaching other flower lovers about floristry. After the Covid pandemic put a stop for weddings and workshops, she rediscovered her long time dream of running a florist shop where she can combine beautiful flowers, eco friendly homewares and spreading joy with flowers on daily basis. After seven years of dreaming, the first Peony Blue shop will open its doors in Bournemouth in April 2021.

Hi, I am Sarah Sonraya Grace. My family and close friends call me Sarah, whilst for my work people know me as Sonraya. I love all things bright and beautiful. I love Nature in all its glory. The Earth is a very grounding and inspiring force in my life and I love to celebrate the changing cycles and draw on the Earth’s wisdom for my own healing and other people’s healing. I am a Cosmic surfer too, loving all things mystical and magical. Being a Piscean I love water and I am blessed to say I live with my family, by the expansive Ocean and the rich abundant wildlife down on the Dorset coastline in Poole. Since a child I have always been in awe and wonder of Nature and creation itself, enjoying the myriad of animals and birds coming in and out of our garden and my special apple tree that always gave me great comfort when the world felt too big to handle.

Fran Carpenter is the Managing Director of Frantic Productions Ltd. Frantic was formed in 1998. A prolific writer of school music resources and Christmas nativity plays and musicals, Fran has more than 20 years' experience of teaching early years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 as a music co-ordinator and specialist class music teacher. Fran's catalogue of school musicals and music education resources is growing all the time, and her nativity plays and musical productions have been performed worldwide in thousands of primary schools. Fran also worked for several years in school television and educational video production. She worked as a member of the producer's team on a series of BBC's Look and Read and on a TEFL video for Pearson Education, and was a co-writer of the accompanying teachers' resource packs. She is a member of the Orff Society UK and much of her music for children is inspired by the creative Orff approach to music education. In addition to her writing work, Fran runs music workshops in nurseries and schools and CPD teacher training courses for music hubs and teacher training colleges. These courses are highly regarded and provide teachers and students with a whole host of ideas for creative music making with early years and primary children. Frantic Productions is also a Music Hub Partner of Bournemouth's Music Hub, SoundStorm, running projects for Bournemouth primary schools and early years providers.
