Landmarks started to offer day services and post-16 education in March 1995, where the curriculum was largely practical and land-based, working in farm buildings in Creswell, Derbyshire. Since that time Landmarks has grown and developed its educational offer so that by the time of writing this welcome, Landmarks supports over 150 post-16 and day service Learners, all of whom learn a variety of essential life skills from our five sites located across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire. We have changed our curriculum from purely land and animal-based to include several vocational subjects such as; hospitality, catering, cookery, retail, administration and labouring. These additional subjects support our learners to make informed choices about the type of vocations they would like to follow. College life at Landmarks involves being taught in practical, real-life situations, whilst being supported by highly trained and experienced staff who are experts in working with learners with additional needs. It is important for me, as it is for my team, that whilst learners are with us, they focus on developing knowledge, skills and behaviour that makes a real difference to their lives. I hope from reading the case studies and outcomes featured within this website, you can see what difference that focus has made to our learners’ lives. I am extremely proud of all our learners’ achievements, either becoming more independent so that they can attend activities they enjoy or securing employment for the first time in their lives. Indeed, we are so keen to support our learners that when you leave Landmarks, should you need support to maintain employment or seek advice you can contact our dedicated ‘After College, Aftercare’ team. Inspirational mountain adventures and training.For over twenty years Beyond the Edge has trained climbers, walkers and mountaineers. We are one of the UK’s most experienced providers of Mountain Training courses including the Lowland Leader, Hill and Moorland Leader, Mountain Leader, Climbing Wall Instructor and the Rock Climbing Instructor Awards. Classical Guitar Academy is Derbyshire’s premier classical guitar studio, specialising in the retail of the world’s finest classical guitars. We also run a highly successful classical guitar school, with pupils coming to us from all over the UK both in person and remotely to enjoy our lessons, workshops and performance classes. Our History In the beginning… Classical Guitar Academy was founded in 2015 by Ed Peczek. A student of the classical guitar for many years, Ed has been dedicated to the classical guitar since 1997. His passion for the instrument defined his formative years, attending lessons at Stafford Classical Guitar Centre with Adrian Copley and Selina Madeley. This enthusiasm for the classical guitar continued throughout childhood and it was clear from then on that the instrument would be central to his future. Ed Peczek Despite officially being founded in 2015, the idea for the business was formed many years earlier while Ed was studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. As one of the UK’s leading music conservatoires, the provision of a superior programme of study was truly inspiring. However as a conservatoire, these classes were only available to students of the institution. Given that the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland only accepted two to three new students per academic year, the reach of this excellent programme seemed very limited. It was then, the idea for Classical Guitar Academy was born. The concept driving Classical Guitar Academy is the provision of a conservatoire standard programme of study to anyone and everyone who would like access to it. Classical Guitar Academy came into being during late Spring of 2015. Ed hired a room by the hour at the now defunct ‘Voicebox’ in Derby, teaching private lessons a couple days a week while juggling peripatetic work and other private lessons in Staffordshire. Despite some very long hours and a lot of driving between neighbouring counties, Classical Guitar Academy was starting to gain traction in Derbyshire. As CGA’s reputation grew, so did the business. By 2016, Classical Guitar Academy was in a strong enough position to support its own dedicated studio.
