Assessor Course

This qualification is for tutors, trainers, or assessors, who are new into their role and looking for development of teaching, training and assessment skills. The qualification is made up of a range of units which can be adapted to any learning and development role, so, whether you are working with groups or individuals; delivering training in classrooms, in the workplace or online; planning training sessions or developing resources, units can be combined to suit your role and career objectives. This qualification is an expansion of the Level 3 Award in Education and Training qualification; it also contains the Assessor units for anyone looking to become a qualified assessor. This qualification is delivered though monthly workshops and mentoring visits from our Learning Advisor, who will support and advise you to develop your knowledge and skills in learning and development. You will also carry out self study and develop training sessions and materials. The course takes between 9-15 months to complete. You will be able to: Plan and deliver engaging and inclusive teaching and training sessions Adapt training and assessment to meet learners’ individual needs Facilitate learning one to one or in groups Have the option to complete the Assessor qualification as part of the course Use reflective practice to improve on your training and assessment skills Access funding for this qualification as part of an Apprenticeship programme *eligibility criteria apply Further Information To access the apprenticeship funding you must: Be new into role within the last 12 months (and be able to provide a contract with your start date in the role) Complete Essential Skills in Communication, Application of Number and Digital Literacy (or provide GCSE Certificates to be exempt). Workshops are provided. However, not everyone has the tools to teach knowing how to is the key to successful learning, this programme is designed to Train the Trainer.

Learning Coach Qualification – is it right for me? A Learning Coach plays a vital role in guiding and supporting young people in their educational journey, helping them develop a range of skills and attributes that contribute to successful learning, personal growth, and future success. Pursuing a qualification to become a qualified Learning Coach is beneficial for enhancing skills, credibility, and effectiveness in supporting learners’ development. It provides a foundation of knowledge and expertise that contributes to successful coaching experiences. This qualification consists of three units (two mandatory, 1 optional). It will cover the following: Young People’s Development: Factors influencing learning, motivation, and barriers to learning. Learning Styles and Inclusive Planning: Learning styles vs. Universal Design for Learning (UDL), planning for inclusive learning. Reflective Practice: Comparison of reflection models, engaging in reflective practice. Coaching for Learning: Communication and coaching skills, coaching models, functions of Learning Coaching Assessing Young People: Interview skills, communication styles, assessing achievements and barriers to learning. Developing Learning Pathways: Coordinating individualised learning pathways, engaging young people in goal-setting Further Information This course spans six months and covers various aspects of Learning Coaching, including understanding learning processes, personal and emotional factors affecting learning, coaching techniques, reflective practice, communication skills, inclusive planning, assessment, and the coordination of individualised learning pathways. Students will engage in assignments, reflective journals, case studies, and portfolio building to demonstrate their understanding and application of the concepts and skills covered in the course. Learning Outcomes Professional Competence: A formal qualification ensures that Learning Coaches have a solid understanding of best practices, theories, and methodologies in the field of education and coaching. It provides them with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively support learners in their development. A whole day of workshops for groups of pupils throughout your school, delivered by a dedicated ally of disabled people. Engaging and thought-provoking, these workshops are a must for schools that want to challenge prejudice and promote disability equality. Workshops will help pupils to: learn more about disability and human rights hear disabled people’s perspectives identify common stereotypes and some of the prejudices disabled people face consider what disability is and how it arises understand the difference between impairment and disability review terminology and its effect on disabled people’s identities learn about disabled people who have made a difference ask sensitive questions anonymously become advocates for disability equality 95-100% of participants say that they found our workshop helpful Some of the reasons pupils have given for finding the workshop helpful are: “Until today I had always been scared of disabled people but today I have learnt that disabled people have a heart and emotions too.” “I now understand more about disabilities. My sister and brother has disabilities.” “It shows that although disabled people have limits they can do many things.” “Because presenter told in very simply way about complicated things and used interesting examples.” “Now I know that disabled people do things differently.” FAQs: How long is each workshop? 40-45 minutes; this can be adjusted to fit in with your school day. How many workshops will you deliver? We can deliver up to six workshops in a day. How many pupils should there be in each group? The workshops are interactive, so they are more effective with groups of around 20 pupils. We are often asked to work with larger groups and this still generates excellent feedback from pupils and staff. What year groups are these workshops for? The workshops are suitable for all year groups in primary and secondary schools; we adapt the content and presentation according to the age of pupils. Does a member of staff need to stay with the group? Yes, we ask that a member of staff is present at each workshop. Will you need any equipment? We ask for a computer, projector and access to the internet. Pupils will need a pen to write with. How are the workshops evaluated? At the end of each workshop we ask all (except the youngest) pupils to write down if they have found it helpful or not and why; we may also offer them an opportunity to ask a question anonymously.If schools have opted for this (please see optional extras below) we will send the school written responses to questions and a transcript of pupils’ feedback as evidence of impact.
