If you love abstract art and texture then this workshop is for you! You will learn how to mix and blend from a variety of materials from natural stone to plastic beads, stained glass to broken china. What to expect You will be shown how to prepare the base, mix your own adhesive and combine your materials using a range of techniques to create interest and texture. Who is this for? Suitable for beginners, however, those with some mosaic experience are also welcome to join. What is provided A mixture of beads, stone, mosaic tiles and slate (please note materials will vary from example shown) Black tile adhesive Stick for stirring adhesive A square or circular base approximately 15cm x 15cm Next class: Sunday, 17 November 2024 (10am til 3pm) Venue: Luton, Bedfordshire (exact location will be provided on booking)

IN-PERSON: MAKE A MOSAIC

Always wanted to have a go at mosaic making? This might be the class for you! What to expect A brief introduction and demonstration on mosaic making using the Direct Method. Included will be how to use tile nippers, how to create shapes and an explanation of various andamento styles and how to grout. Please note that grouting will not be done in this class however you will receive a grout bag to take home with full instructions (including a video for reference). Who is this for? Suitable for beginners, however, those with some mosaic experience are also welcome to join. What is provided A good selection of vitreous glass, unglazed ceramic and stained glass + other useful materials PVA glue Grout bag MDF base (approx 25cm x 25 cm or 30cm x 16cm) Next class: Sunday, 1 December 2024 (10am til 3pm) Venue: Luton, Bedfordshire (exact location will be provided on booking)

About Cheryl... Now that you’ve found me, let me tell you a little bit about myself.. I have been making and designing lead lights for about as long as it has taken me to raise three children and see them married with children of their own..so that’s a long time. I decided that I wanted to be a stay at home mum and be able to have something to occupy me and fulfil my creative skills, so there starts my story, when I discovered a ‘Stained Glass Evening Class’ at our local college, which I attended for a one night a week course for six months.

Birch Bark has been used for making many objects in times gone by, with its antibacterial properties and breathability helping foods to stay fresh. It can be used to boil water over an open camp fire, yet the natural oils within also make it an excellent tinder when dry!
