Complementing the ‘Zones of Regulation’, or as a stand alone self regulation technique, Snappy Tappy® provides a practical and accessible method for children and young people to modify/calm the emotions they are feeling ‘in the moment’ or ‘after the event’, to help them feel LESS;  • anxious  • angry  • fearful  • frustrated  • overwhelmed  • shame  • hurt  or any other emotion which is distracting them, pre occupying them or preventing them being ‘in  the green zone’ or in a balanced emotional state.     Snappy Tappy® which is an adaptation of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is an evidence-  based modality. It is often referred to as Tapping by practitioners and users because that is what  we do.    Tapping works with the body’s internal energy systems similar to Acupuncture. However, where  Acupuncture uses needles, Tapping uses stimulation of the meridians using gentle finger tapping  pressure, while simultaneously focussing on the current difficulty. This dual attention helps your  brain process whatever might be troubling you.    Snappy Tappy® training takes place over two sessions both 3-4 hours long. The initial training introduces the background to Tapping, examines other adaptations of EFT and gets you ready for your own Snappy Taps and case studies. These are then reviewed 2 months later and you’re on your way to helping children and young people with Snappy Tappy®. Your licence is valid for 1 calendar year and can be renewed following a yearly check in and CPD.     Meet the trainer:   Miriam is the author and creator of Snappy Tappy® and uses daily in her workplace within education. What we do The Southover Partnership comprises two core services: The Southover Partnership school – Based across three sites in London. Southover Outreach services – Support in schools & Education Other Than At School (EOTAS) The Southover Partnership history The Southover Partnership was born in the summer of 1994 when Carol Frankl made the decision to start up her own company focusing on special educational needs. She launched the company from her home and named it The Southover Partnership: Southover being her place of residence; Partnership because Carol was adamant that her company would be a collaboration between all parties involved. Southover initially emerged from Carol’s disillusionment with the mechanisms for funding special needs and her passion that each child should have a positive educational experience. At the time there were many grant maintained schools that didn’t have access to local authority services due to the method of funding by central government. The Southover Partnership aimed to ensure special educational needs provision could be met. The service began by offering a select group of students support in school and some at-home tuition. It swiftly extended to providing full-time education to these students. Carol expanded Southover’s services and recruited the highest calibre staff to assist in schools as well as at home. Carol’s outstanding reputation in the education sector put her in demand to provide training and consultancy for SENCOs and schools. So great were the requests for Southover’s servicesprovisions that Carol formed her own school for children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties and autism. The Southover Partnership school was officially recognised by the Department for Children, Schools and Families in August 2007, with the first inspection taking place in June 2008. This was a huge achievement for Carol, and a real adventure, as prior to this point much of the education for children out of school was provided by local authorities. The Southover Partnership was soon recognised as a leading provider of alternative special needs education

Here at Communicate-ed we are passionate about seeing people developed to their true potential. To that end, we provide practical, value-for money, relevant training for education professionals involved in the area of Special Needs We have a range of courses which cover a variety of roles at Secondary School and Further Education level. These include a brief overview for general staff, training for Teaching Assistants acting as Readers and Scribes, Invigilators overseeing exams, SENCos and Examination Officers organising support during the exam period, as well as Access Arrangements Assessors and Educational Psychologists assessing students. Our training for Language Modifiers is run jointly with the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors and offers accreditation for successful delegates. Our other courses include input on a wide variety of subjects related to the support of students with special educational needs including Dyslexia, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Dyscalculia and Behavioural Difficulties. We offer training for Access Arrangements Assessors including courses recognised by the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee for core CPD when updating SpLD Assessment Practising Certificates. We are also passionate about raising funds for charitable projects which support educational opportunities, particularly for those caught in poverty in the UK and overseas. To date we have been able to donate over £865,000 to a variety of causes.

She has worked with people of all backgrounds, cultures and ages – right from babies to adults. Her wealth of experiences enables her to engage with people from all walks of life. Nikita works in London as an Educational Consultant providing training and advice to international schools and private and voluntary sector institutions. She has transformed ‘inadequate’ rated schools into ‘good’ (Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills inspection in England). She genuinely cares about the families she works with and uses creative ways to meet their unique needs. For example, at one of the schools, Nikita created a bespoke software to enable the staff to accurately track children’s progress and communicate it with their parents, while reducing unnecessary paperwork. In her spare time, she volunteers in orphanages and charities supporting underprivileged children in Romania. Nikita delivers corporate staff training on the very contemporary topic of Emotional Intelligence and Wellbeing. She firmly believes that as adults, we need to think of our wellbeing, to benefit ourselves and to enable us to support people in our care. Nikita also trains parents and teachers on this very topic, which is also a topic of her doctoral research. She firmly believes that it’s never too early or too late to think of emotional literacy. Nikita has a master’s degree in business and economics and is a qualified teacher with post-graduate qualifications in Froebelian and Montessori philosophy and psychology. She has done several other pieces of training in the field of education to support children with special needs. She is trained as a forest school leader, a first aider and as a safeguarding lead. She is a certified Life Coach, and a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist and Nero-Linguistic Programming practitioner.
