The Suzy Lamplugh Trust

MISSION Our mission is to reduce the risk of violence and aggression through campaigning, education and support. VISION Our vision is a society in which people are safer - and feel safer - from violence and aggression; we want people to be able to live life to the full. The Suzy Lamplugh Trust is the UK's pioneering personal safety charity and leading stalking authority, established in 1986, following the disappearance of 25-year-old Suzy Lamplugh, an estate agent and lone worker who went to meet a client and never returned. Suzy was never found and eventually declared deceased after seven years in 1993. Suzy Lamplugh Trust is widely regarded as a field expert in lone-working and personal safety training, stalking training, as well as consultancy, campaigning, and support services. It has a long history of working within the Violence Against Women and Girls sector, dealing particularly with stalking and harassment, given that it is believed, and indeed the evidence suggests Suzy may have been targeted by a stalker. The National Stalking Helpline was set up by the Trust in 2010, it has helped over 70,000 victims since its inception, and is the only service of its kind globally. The Trust exists so that what happened to Suzy does not happen to anyone else, and for over 35 years, we have worked towards reducing the risk of harassment, stalking, aggression, and violence by empowering people to take steps to avoid, mitigate or manage risks across all aspects of their life. The Trust campaigns heavily to raise greater awareness of personal safety and stalking issues, demand systemic change where needed, influence public policy, and promote a society in which people are safer and feel safer. Its longest running campaign has been the licensing of the operators and drivers of minicabs and private hire vehicles, which begun in 1998. This campaigning and policy work has been pivotal to changes in legislation and practice nationally - including in the introduction of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997, and the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012, which introduced specific offences for stalking, and the 2020 stalking protection orders.

She now has around 300 members across five choirs in Pinner, Dunstable, Berkhamsted, Milton Keynes and Northwood Hills. Rock Chorus rehearse once a week in each location and the choirs come together for concerts and charity performances. Rock Chorus have appeared at The Tring Festival, The Waterside Festival at Milton Keynes, The Pepper Rock Concert in Berkhamsted, the Woburn Oyster Festival and at Strictly Come Hospice in Watford Colosseum in aid of the Watford Peace Hospice, to name but a few. We have also appeared on several TV and radio programmes for the BBC, ITV and Sky 1. For 9 years running we have performed to sell out audiences at the Stantonbury Theatre and The Venue in Milton Keynes raising over £40,000 for the Bletchley Lions Club charities. Our concerts dates just keep on coming and we are in demand across all of our areas throughout the year. We are now a regular fixture at the Ideal Home Christmas Exhibition and this Christmas holiday was a well needed break after an extremely busy term of Christmas performances and our now legendary Rock Chorus Christmas parties! Rock Chorus has recorded two original singles, "This is our Time," written by Lauren Field and Charles Foskett and "A Million Souls" written by Lauren Field, Charles Foskett and Brian Bennett (The Shadows). In April Rock Chorus recorded their new song at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. Rock Chorus headlined and produced its own charity concert, headlining a Concert to an audience of 1000, and with guest stars Mungo Jerry, Osibisa, Alvin Stardust, Tight Fit and Voices with Soul, raising £15,000 for the McMillan Cancer Unit at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital. As part of our ten year celebration we will be putting on a concert at the Watersmeet Theatre in Rickmansworth. We hope that all members will get involved as Every Voice Counts at Rock Chorus!

Certified Vinyasa & Hatha yoga teacher living in south west Cornwall I am a Swedish, ocean loving, flow sequencing and playlist making yogini. Before moving to Cornwall in 2021, I lived on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, teaching daily yoga classes whilst running a surf school and caring for stray animals. I am passionate about our planet and hold a Master's degree in trans-disciplinary sustainability.   I started traveling the world and practicing yoga around the same time in my life, roughly 13 years ago. My yoga practice became a way for me to turn into myself in the midst of change. Whenever I came to a new country I would find a yoga class to join or roll out my mat in nature to practice. In a beautiful way, yoga became an essential part of both my travels and me as a person, and helped me to stay connected to myself and my own truth while being on the move and meeting new faces and places.  I trained to become a yoga teacher in 2018 both to learn more and deepen my own practice, and because I was truly craving to share this practice that I so deeply believe in. I believe in the benefits of yoga for all, regardless of how our personal practices look. I believe it has the power to help us become better versions of ourselves and better humans, and to make us healthier and happier inside and out. I believe that yoga is a practice of integration.   Since I took my first yoga class in 2010 I have always been drawn to dynamic, fiery and fast paced Vinyasa classes. I love arriving completely into my body and leaving the head to move, to breathe, to sweat – to just BE. The power of a fiery Vinyasa practice is the irresistible pull towards surrender, to the moving meditation where nothing else exists.   I still love fast and dynamic Vinyasa classes but since I completed my teacher training and began exploring traditional Hatha with my teachers in India I have been drawn to slower, more conscious movement. In my teaching I love to invite my students to stop and feel, to explore and to engage more deeply with sensations as a way to learn to listen to the intelligent language of our bodies.
