London

Alumni Europae ASBL is the association for former students of the European Schools. We believe there is a unique and invaluable connection amongst us that crosses all kinds of social, linguistic and national boundaries. The association was launched at the end of 2011 and has shown great signs of success over these few years of existence. Make sure you join in the fun and register with our new website to get the full AE experience. Alumni Europae wants to unite and reunite former students, as well as parents, teachers and staff from all European Schools, by putting like-minded people in touch on a social and professional level. AE gives you an opportunity to research university and career options, to develop your future based on our members' broad experiences, and keep in touch with people you have shared so much with over the years, not to mention forge new friendships with other alumni from across the world. Once you have registered, you will have access to an archive of members' university experiences, career guidance and a permanent network of information and support. Alumni Europae plans to organize regular events; alumni reunions as well as events supporting the European ideals the Schools were founded upon. We feel this is especially important in a time in which Europe is suffering from an identity crisis in the midst of economic difficulties. Keep checking the website for news on activities and events we will be organising in the near future. The idea of an alumni association for former students of the European Schools is one that has been approached a number of times. Here is a brief history of the associations and what it has become today. 2013 - Alumni Europae ASBL merges with Euresco Euresco, the domain names and all of its activities are transferred to Alumni Europae. 2011 - Creation of Alumni Europae ASBL A new association of former students registered in Belgian Law. They rebuilt connections with schools and have built the organisation you see today. 2003 - The birth of a new community: euresco.org A small team of former pupils led by Nicolas Beffort (Bac 85 FR Woluwé) refused to resign, and decided to give a new birth to the project. They bought the Euresco database and euresco.org domain-name and paid all the debts of the former-organization to start on a new basis. 2001 - End of Euresco as an international organization By the end of 2001, Euresco was virtually bankrupt. The dissolution was effective on December 31st, 2001, and has been published in the Belgian Official Journal (Moniteur belge) on April 11, 2002 1996 - Lack of institutional support In 1996, the European Commission, that supported the launch of the organization from the beginning, could not help Euresco anymore. 1992 - Launch of Euresco Between 1992 and 1996, Euresco published three issues of its Euresco-Book, reaching more than 8,000 former pupils and teachers worldwide. Eight issues of the newsletter (Euresco-News) were also published under the successive Presidencies of François Wathelet, Eberhard Bömcke and Eric Everard.

The Beauty Click Academy

the beauty click academy

Bromley

The Beauty Click was founded in April 2018 by Chantelle Bass. The idea came about as Chantelle has always been a working parent and understands how difficult it is to make time for beauty and hair treatments. She wanted to produce a website that has a platform for both the beauty and hair  specialists themselves and for the customers wanting to fit in appointments around their busy schedules. After being let down by her new child-minder for the umpteenth time, Chantelle bit the bullet gave up her sales career and put her all into launching this business. Chantelle’s life time friend Lauren came on board in June 2018, after understanding and sharing her vision she chose to also focus on building The Beauty Click brand. Lauren too is a parent and has dealt with the stresses of fitting things in around her parenting and work life. Chantelle’s career has mainly been within the sales and business development sector and Laurens within childcare, but both have also worked in the beauty industry and have a strong passion to be able to help those that want to learn new skills and move into the hair and beauty realm. After putting their full focus into the growth of The Beauty Click, working tirelessly to put into action the many ideas they’ve had and continue to envision, as well as being full time parents. It hasn’t been an easy journey so far but has been both exciting and inspiring, they are passionate and dedicated to the success of the company and are proud of the entrepreneurs they have become. A lot of the values of the business are to help parents get into flexible work by providing training and then to assist with a customer base, the Beauty Click has proved to be perfect for this. Also, to provide a solution for not just parents, but for everybody in this hectic world that we live in to keep up with regular self-care appointments or to allow for that cheeky pamper session. The Beauty Click is in a league of its own when it comes to Beauty on demand services. We do not set our prices, our members set their own. This means customers have a choice of the amount they are able or wanting to spend on treatments. We do not push out those that have a lower budget and we also have high end members that use exclusive products and have a higher price range. We pride ourselves in catering to the needs of all, including you!

The Island Project

the island project

Meriden

The Island Project School was set up to provide a school for children and young people with autism. It was founded by parents whose children had previously been taught at home using Applied Behaviour Analysis ("ABA"). Without functional communication, adults with autism can be isolated from their family, community and even carers. Without clear and early intervention, children and young people may grow into adults with no communication or independence skills meaning that they become the most dependent, and sadly most vulnerable group whilst needing the largest amount of support. If, as a school, we can give young people a means of communication plus independence skills, we can give them a better quality of life, whilst reducing their long term dependence upon their community. Unfortunately, whilst Local Authorities have a legal obligation to provide appropriate education for all children, they do not have the space, funding, or expertise to provide appropriate education for all pupils, particularly those with complex communication needs and associated difficulties, or for those who have ABA on their EHC Plans In the West Midlands, there were no ABA schools when the Island Project was founded, and this remains largely the case. The School was founded using the principles of ABA, and the Pyramid Approach to Education which gives pupils an effective means of communication using the Picture Exchange System. The School recognises that having an effective means of communication, putting in place strategies around managing sensory difficulties, and the development of independence skills are key to enabling children and young people to successfully access education and a better quality of life in the future. In recognition of this, all pupils at the School have input from a Multi Disciplinary Team which includes Behaviour Analysts, Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists specialising in Sensory Integration. The School originated with three pupils in a small unit in Balsall Common. The Schoo was founded as a charity, and within a few years, had outgrown its original building and moved to new premises at Diddington Hall in Meriden.

Wolverhampton

Our vision is to provide a broad, inclusive health and science curriculum, delivered to the highest standards in partnership with our employer partners. This will ensure that our learners receive personalised, practical experiences, offering opportunities that enrich their experience above and beyond that normally expected and enhancing their employability WE OFFER TOMORROW’S EDUCATION TODAY We’re excited and proud to be the first UTC in the UK to specialise in health care and health science, offering learning and career opportunities for young people like no other school or college in the region. By combining academic study with real-life work projects, personal development activities, and career opportunities our young people will become well-rounded work-ready individuals. They will benefit from a combination of qualified national curriculum teaching and putting their learning into practice in exciting, work-focused projects that are delivered in partnership with employer professionals. We’re able to deliver this ‘tomorrow’s education today’ concept through robust partnerships with major health, education and public sector organisations. This approach supports the development of academic, practical and life skills in our young people, equipping them to meet the demands from employers for good qualifications, transferable skills and a professional attitude to work – whatever career path they eventually choose. We believe that the UTC can provide a set of opportunities and qualifications that will provide an excellent foundation for students to enter the health and care professions. WHAT IS A UTC? University Technical Colleges (UTCs) are government-funded schools with a science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) focus. They provide a unique and relevant approach to education, which addresses the changing needs of students and employers in the 21st century. UTCs were established by companies and universities in areas of high demand for talent. Alongside national curriculum teaching, UTCs also offer sought-after vocational and technical qualifications, and benefit from industry-standard equipment and specialist staff to provide students with skills that are valued by employers. The UTC curriculum has a strong emphasis on ‘real life’ project-based learning, which engages students and develops their personal character. Because of this unique offer, UTCs allow for a broad choice of pathways when a student reaches 18 years old: university, higher or degree apprenticeships, or directly into a career.
