About this event A two hour sitting after which you will receive the completed portrait in oils on canvas or pencil on paper. The better you sit still the better the portrait. If you are buying this as a present for someone make sure they are aware of this. If you are not happy with the portrait you will receive a refund. Sometimes extra time may need to be spent on the portrait after the session. The completed portrait will be wet if in oils so will have to be transported carefully or can be left at the studio and picked up in a few days so it is easier to transport. Our one day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course covers all the subjects required by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to make this an approved course. However, if you have particular risks in your workplace please let us know in advance of the course so that we can tailor your time with us to include training in those area. This course provides basic life saving first aid skills and knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations, covering: Adult resuscitation (CPR) Burns and scalds Choking adult Communication and casualty care Defibrillator (AED) prompts and pad placement Minor and severe bleeding Role of the first aider (including knowledge of health and safety regulations) Seizures Shock Unresponsive adult Catastrophic bleeding can be added as an optional module for workplaces that require it following your first aid needs assessment.

Hand embroidery has been practiced for centuries and remains a hugely popular and fulfilling craft today. As with most crafts, hand embroidery is wide and varied in technique, style and usage. Traditional crewel embroidery, fine and delicate silk work, contemporary mixed media or modern folk art to name just a few.
New for 2020, this fun workshop will aim to move you on from “in-the-ditch” quilting and from quilting straight lines. Using a variety of techniques we will work on quilting common patchwork shapes to find a style and method that suits you best. This workshop is aimed at those with some quilting experience who are keen to move their skills on in a completely new direction. However, it is suitable for all abilities as full tuition and hand-holding will be provided on the day.
