Breathwork Workshop: "Breathe in Edinburgh's Heritage"As part of the Edinburgh 900 anniversary celebrations, join us for a transformative Breathwork Workshop, designed to connect you with the essence of mindful breathing while honoring the rich, diverse cultural heritage of our vibrant city. This 2-hour session will guide participants through the art of conscious breathing, a practice rooted in various cultural traditions across the globe. In this workshop, we will also explore the language of breath, learning different words and terms related to breathing from various cultures. You'll discover how the simple act of pausing to breathe can be a powerful tool in navigating conversations, especially when speaking a language that is not your own. This session will help you cultivate the mindfulness needed to communicate with clarity and calm, bridging linguistic and cultural gaps. Our goal is to create a space where participants from different backgrounds can come together to share and experience the universal power of breath. By engaging in this practice, we celebrate not only Edinburgh's historic 900 years but also the multicultural influences that have shaped our city. This class focuses on the areas of the body that are overworked and hold tension/ trauma. By using breathwork and meditation, we are able to become more mindful of the signals our body sends us and target that area with deep stretch holds and activating the cardiovascular system to release the tension of tight muscles. An inclusive class for everyone that wants to rid the body of tightness or perhaps just to relax, focus on meditation and the breath. The exhibition is taking place in the Scot-ART Gallery 1 on the 3rd floor of St Margaret’s House, 151 London Road, Edinburgh EH7 6AE from Saturday, 24 - Saturday, 31 May 2025 and is open from 11am-5pm each day. The exhibition is free to enter and you can find out more about our theme, who will be exhibiting, and opportunities to meet our creatives in person here. We will be exploring how creatives balance making art they love with art they earn a living from. This is where to book spaces for a Setting Up a YouTube Channel Talk with Lou Davis Lou will share how creating online videos totally transformed her art practice, provides an extra source of income and fosters a keen and supportive audience for her work. Her channel was begun almost by accident but over the last few years has grown to nearly 50,000 subscribers who love the step-by-step watercolour tutorials, find inspiration for painting patterns and learn new techniques in painting and printmaking.

The NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Decorative Finishing & Industrial Painting is appropriate for individuals aged 16 and over working in the construction sector who specialise in painting and decorating activity and are looking to become eligible for the Blue CSCS Card. The aim of this qualification is to recognise the knowledge, skills and competence of individuals who specialise in painting and decorating activity. Upon completion of the qualification, you will be awarded the NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Decorative Finishing & Industrial Painting. CSCS Cards We can provide CSCS tests and CSCS Cards alongside the qualifications without the need to attend the test centre. Speak with our friendly and helpful team for more information.

2 day Portrait Workshop in acrylics inspired by Dante Gabriel Rossetti   Join well known Edinburgh artist and tutor Suzanne Kemplay and model Beth Davison to create a portrait in the style of the pre Raphaelite Brotherhood. Expect an atmospheric set and romantic lighting in keeping with the Rossetti’s style, with a few modern touches thrown in.   On Day 1 Suzanne will give a short talk on how to approach your composition and how to capture the spirit of the artist’s technique. You’ll plan and sketch out a drawing in the morning before moving on to painting in the afternoon and on day two.  All materials are supplied (or feel free to bring your own) and the class is kept small to ensure everyone gets some individual attention. This course is most suited to those who have some drawing experience but we welcome beginners. Over 14s only. The workshop will run from 10 - 4pm on 1 and 2 April.

Blue CSCS Card NVQ Level 2 Craft This qualification provides you with the opportunity to showcase their knowledge, skills and understanding in their chosen craft. You will have the relevant experience in one of the trade specific areas. You will work in one of the following areas: Trowel Occupations (Bricklayer) Painting and Decorating Wall and Floor Tiling Stone Masonry Site Carpentry Plastering Roofing Induction - As soon as you register you will be given a dedicated assessor. They will arrange an induction and together with your assessor, you will get to decide on the pathway which best proves your competency. The induction is used to plan out how you will gather the relevant evidence to complete the course. During the course - The assessor will work with you to build a portfolio of evidence that allows you to showcase your knowledge, skills and experience. The assessor will also regularly review and provide you with feedback. This will allow you to keep on track to progress quickly. You will be assessed through various methods such as observations, written questions, evidence generated from the workplace, professional discussion, and witness testimonials. On completion - Once all feedback has been agreed, the Internal Quality Assurer will review your portfolio and in agreement with your assessor the certificate will be applied for.
