She launched the company from her home and named it The Southover Partnership: Southover being her place of residence; Partnership because Carol was adamant that her company would be a collaboration between all parties involved. Southover initially emerged from Carol’s disillusionment with the mechanisms for funding special needs and her passion that each child should have a positive educational experience. At the time there were many grant maintained schools that didn’t have access to local authority services due to the method of funding by central government. The Southover Partnership aimed to ensure special educational needs provision could be met. The service began by offering a select group of students support in school and some at-home tuition. It swiftly extended to providing full-time education to these students. Carol expanded Southover’s services and recruited the highest calibre staff to assist in schools as well as at home. Carol’s outstanding reputation in the education sector put her in demand to provide training and consultancy for SENCOs and schools. So great were the requests for Southover’s servicesprovisions that Carol formed her own school for children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties and autism. The Southover Partnership school was officially recognised by the Department for Children, Schools and Families in August 2007, with the first inspection taking place in June 2008. This was a huge achievement for Carol, and a real adventure, as prior to this point much of the education for children out of school was provided by local authorities. Today the Surrey Law Society is the sixth largest in England and Wales with a membership of around 1000 solicitors and is seen as the Surrey Lawyers’ voice. Surrey Law Society was formally incorporated in November 2001. It was a coming together of the three existing Surrey law societies in order to improve economy of administration and provide a far more effective voice for Surrey lawyers when talking both to the Law Society and other professional bodies. Previously the Mid Surrey Law Society had served members in the north of Surrey and London boroughs of Richmond, Kingston, Sutton and parts of Merton, the name deriving from the days when Surrey was everything south of the Thames in Central London. The South East Surrey Law Society was based around Dorking and its environs and similarly the West Surrey Law Society comprised of members in or around Guildford. The amalgamation enabled us to reach parts of the County that the old societies did not reach and increased membership dramatically to its present level. It is now in the top ten local law societies throughout the country, when considering that these include the City of London, Manchester and Birmingham, the Surrey lawyers’ voice is now far more effectively heard in high places. The ‘map’ of the committee as at 27th Nov 2013 identifies the group that currently manages the Society. Originally the presidency rotated around the old three centres of activity but over the years the integration is such that we are now one big happy family, providing not only an effective CPD programme but representatives on just about every legal forum that can be found in the County and several others. One of the main aims of the Society is to get to know fellow lawyers through networking and social events as diverse as beer and skittles evenings, walking weekends, dinners and quizzes. Liaison regularly takes place not only with adjoining societies but also on a national level. Strong and permanent links have also been forged with the University of Law in Guildford itself and Kingston and Surrey Universities where we are happy to sponsor events to assist the students in various ways. We look forward to playing a full role in the legal world and promote the role of Surrey solicitors for a very long time to come.

Hello!! My name is Muge and I am the founder of My Breathing Path! I was born in Istanbul, Turkey and I lived there until 2018. I was working in the Turkish finance industry for more than 10 years and during that time I was suffering from an advanced hernia in my neck. Working in a high stress environment and dealing with lots of problems at the same time, made me a super-achiever. I first came across breathwork in a workshop in 2010. It was extremely powerful but also it was completely different to the other techniques that I had tried before. As I continued to go to the sessions, it helped me to understand my behaviour as a perfectionist and its subsequent consequences for my life, the hernia and my unbalanced relationship with my family, friends and colleagues. After experiencing healing and transformation myself, I decided to become a facilitator. Since 2014, I have been working in the field of Transformational Breath as a Certified Transformational Breath Facilitator in private sessions, workshops and seminars while I continued to work in my finance career. I have experience in working with a wide variety of people – each possessing their own set of needs and goals. My further qualifications, Basic DNA Theta Healing Practitioner and Reiki II Certification are used in conjunction with Transformational Breath sessions to help people reach their potential and achieve their goals. Life is a combination of different journeys and within my new journey in the UK, I look forward to sharing my experiences through transformational breathing sessions with others, who want to discover more about themselves with transformation in their life, increase their self-awareness and live a healthier lifestyle.

Becky Hi, I’m Becky, the Principal here at The Dance Zone. I began dancing at the age of 4, learning Freestyle, Ballroom and Latin American. At the age of 14 I became a Student Teacher and fell in love with teaching. I enjoy studying the theory side of dance and went on to take the Associate Teacher qualification in both Ballroom and Latin American with the IDTA; and Ballroom with the ISTD. I now have the pleasure of passing this knowledge on to any of our student teachers who wish to train to become qualified dance teachers and fulfil their own dance dreams. Quite some time ago, I discovered a love of authentic Street dance and still enjoy attending classes in this discipline. Over the years I have achieved qualifications to teach Zumba, Zumba Toning and Mash It Up Fitness, all great and fun exercise programs. I have had the pleasure of partnering students at competitions in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, something I will never forget. I do not have a favourite style, I just love to dance; even my holiday every year is at a dance convention! Yes, dance is my passion, but it’s more than that, it’s who I am. Amy Amy Hi, I’m Amy, and I’ve been dancing at The Dance Zone since it opened in 2011 but have been dancing for 13 years. I have been a student teacher since 2017, I also take lessons in Tap dancing elsewhere. I have loved growing up and spending time with the other amazing student teachers and getting to know all the kids. Going to dance just provides me with a good opportunity to have fun and learn something new at the same time. Beth Beth Hi, I’m Beth, and I have been dancing since I was 3 years old. I started off doing ballet then moved to The Dance Zone at the age of 6. Dance was always something that I have loved so it’s amazing I have been able to continue dancing my whole life. I competed in several competition as part of a Street dance crew. I have taught dance since I was 12, I love being able to share my passion with the kids and being able to teach and dance with them. It’s rewarding to see the kids perform knowing that you helped to lead and encourage them. My favourite style of dance is street as it’s fun and allows for you to add your own style to routines.
