prosper life initiatives

Prosper Life Initiatives started out as an informal women’s group, meeting in each other’s homes to undertake different activities to empower each other and talk about different issues affecting our general-being. As women we realised there were a lot of barriers that hindered our progress to reach our full potential, with some having changed careers to start all over due migration and working in low paid jobs, family pressures, social isolation, lack of support networks and many other challenges. This left many women feeling frustrated, struggling financially and unfulfilled. Coming together to talk about these issues provided only a sense of temporary relief and Prosper emerged out of that need to support one another to change our experiences as women. It’s a platform where women come together, learn, share, inspire and build relationships to make positive changes to improve their well-being and those around them.

Broadhurst Park Moston Manchester M40 OFJ Broadhurst Park has six distinct areas. At the north eastern end, bounded by Lightbowne Road, Nuthurst Road and St Marys Road, is the formally laid out Broadhurst Park, with sunken gardens, childrens’ playground, bowling green, basketball and tennis courts. The middle sections are in the wetland and Broadhurst Clough area which has been declared a Site of Biological Importance. (SBI) by the Greater Manchester Ecology Unit in recognition of the fact that wetland habitats are becoming increasingly rare. Read SBI Site description Broadhurst Clough and wetland are part of the Irk Valley Corridor which runs from the city centre to Heaton Park. Between 2004 and 2010 access paths and drainage work was carried out to enhance the existing wetland.

islington mill

Artist Bill Campbell arrived at Islington Mill in 1996, hiring a studio space in the partially-abandoned mill building that he saw every day across the road from his flat. Soon after arrival he invited other artists to join him and they began to host the first artist happenings. Islington Mill Arts Club as we know it was established in the year 2000 when Bill was able to purchase the whole of our listed building. He commenced a gradual programme of renovation, resulting in artist studios across four floors of the building, plus a large open space on the fifth floor and an atmospheric attic space on the sixth. Read more about our heritage here. We are now home to over 100 resident artists and collectives in the main mill building and adjacent engine houses. Following our successful capital build programme, and a fruitful partnership with Salford City Council, Islington Mill Arts Club now operates Regent Trading Estate, an adjacent plot of former industrial land where we have established new artist studios in former warehouse spaces, plus event spaces and a community garden. The Mill has always been a vibrant and resourceful cross-disciplinary creative network; a space where conversations leads to connections, collaboration and co-creation. Over the years our collaborative exploratory style has made our studios into a focal point for the north-west’s arts community, as well as visiting international artists and exchanges.

tara yoga centre

Tara is a registered charity dedicated to teaching authentic spirituality and to bringing the principles of yoga and tantra to as many people as possible who are open to receive it. We offer many free activities, including yoga classes, meditations, talks and workshops. We aim to keep the cost of our other events, courses and retreats as low as possible and all income is redirected back into the charity.
