My Experience I have been involved in teaching for the past 20 years from young children to adults. I have set up a technology infrastructure in my current school, fundraised for 1:1 devices for our pupils and trained staff in our school on the usage and integration of technology in the classroom. I qualified in 2001 as a physiotherapist and simultaneously qualified as a pilates teacher. It was my pilates career that introduced me to the world of women’s health and I worked with mums to be and new mums very early on in my career, blending my clinical knowledge as a physio with my pilates teaching. I couldn’t believe the lack of resources for women at the time and support within this period. This became even more apparent after the birth of my first born in 2006. I was a mum and physio on a mission to offer support to our female clients. I opened my first clinic (The Physiotherapy Centre) in 2006 and now manage busy clinics and classes full of mums to be and new mums in addition to other services. I also squeeze in being a Master Pilates Trainer AND have produced my own successful women’s health courses

The Power of Mediation in Business and Relationships by Bernadette Willems “I’ve had enough….” “How do I leave my husband….” “They are just not listening….” “How can we stop this from getting ugly….” “It’ll be lonely this Christmas….” “We’ve tried everything, and nothing is working….” “I’ve had enough of life….”  These are just some comments I hear daily in my role as The Business Peacemaker and The Post-Divorce Specialist at Greater Manchester Mediation Limited.  With more than 25 years of experience as a Family Solicitor, Mediator, Trainer and Coach in the field of conflict resolution, I help people lead a better life and a brighter future free from debilitating disputes – thereby helping to create a better world for all of us. The key to this is ‘Mediation’. But what is it, and how does it work? As founder of Greater Manchester Mediation Limited, and as ‘The Business Peacemaker’ and ‘The Post-Divorce Specialist’, I show my clients primarily how to communicate with each other. This is vital, as it ensures that vulnerable or emotionally fragile clients feel heard and empowered, and it rebuilds bridges between estranged parties.  I am also there to support my clients in navigating the legal process, helping them understand the requirements of law and to find the best route to resolve their disputes. In addition, I ensure that they are not overwhelmed by all the information available and help them determine their best course of action.  Many disputes or problems between individuals, in personal or work relationships or within teams, are compounded or aggravated because clients do not understand each other’s way of thinking, together with the legal (and other) options available to them.  Crucially, with the benefit of this legal knowledge, together with the life and personal development tools and resources I share with my clients, they can identify ways of building or maintaining trust, despite the past. Mediated solutions work better, last longer and cost far less than solutions imposed by a tribunal or a court, and everyone involved buys into them. Moreover, they are less adversarial, and Mediation fosters mutual respect through improved communication. Mediation can mend and preserve frayed relationships, even when the parties are extremely angry.

We are a cookery school for disabled adults 18 plus. At StedyChefs we teach all about the joy and fun to be had whilst cooking ,not only helping improve life skills but building self confidence and making friends along the way. Our whole building is covered in fun graffiti, our chefs wear a full uniform and different coloured bandanas making their time here as fun as possible. We also teach other activities such as art and music, the Beatles actually played in our building in 1961. Our chefs cook everything from scratch and not only this, they grow their own vegetables in our outside space as well as doing outside cooking in warmer months. Our chefs do food related trips also once every six weeks. Some of our chefs volunteer and in the past have worked in local cafes and football stadiums. Our youngest student is 18 and our eldest is 63 years old. The food our chefs create on a daily basis can only be described as phenomenal. We are also part of the International Cookery School Association (School Of Excellence) We also teach our students health and safety in the kitchen. We recently had Merseyside Fire Brigade in our centre to deliver a lesson on hazards that may occur in a kitchen and how to handle them safely. Merseyside Police have also attended our centre to deliver on a lesson on how to stay safe when using the internet. In January of this year, seven of our students gained their Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene In The Kitchen qualification. It took us over a year of visually and verbally training our students in preparation for their test. As they passed, they are now able to legally work in a professional kitchen environment. One of the students is now actively looking for paid work in the catering sector using his newly acquired qualification. We have also partnered with The Trussell Trust and are now running a food bank from or building with the help of our wonderful students.
