Prosper Life Initiatives started out as an informal women’s group, meeting in each other’s homes to undertake different activities to empower each other and talk about different issues affecting our general-being. As women we realised there were a lot of barriers that hindered our progress to reach our full potential, with some having changed careers to start all over due migration and working in low paid jobs, family pressures, social isolation, lack of support networks and many other challenges. This left many women feeling frustrated, struggling financially and unfulfilled. Coming together to talk about these issues provided only a sense of temporary relief and Prosper emerged out of that need to support one another to change our experiences as women. It’s a platform where women come together, learn, share, inspire and build relationships to make positive changes to improve their well-being and those around them.

Having qualified from The University of Sheffield in 2015, Hannah began her career with a local government organisation, in mainstream schools. This role primarily involved working with those aged five to twenty-five, who presented with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). This involves assessing communication skills, making recommendations, delivering therapy, training up staff to deliver interventions and working with the team around the young person (e.g. parents, staff, other professionals) to achieve the best outcomes. Hannah has developed specialist interests in two main areas: hearing impairment and selective mutism. In addition to this, she has tried to combat the ever growing budget cuts by coming up with innovative ways to empower schools in their understanding and ability to work with children with SLCN. A key example of this was the development of the Training Care Pathway, which evaluates the school’s strengths and needs in managing SLCN in the classroom, and then tailors a programme of training to up-skill staff.

During the last seven years we have trained thousands of individuals in a variety of backgrounds and fields which have included industrial, construction, utilities and civil. We have catered for lots of different industries some of which are Water treatment, electricity suppliers, nuclear fuels, the fire brigade, aerospace, local councils, government contracts as well as small companies and individuals. Delivering courses for other training companies has very often left our hands tied as regards facilities and equipment, training aids and quality guidance booklets. So we decided to set up our own training centre which will allow us to control the whole package and deliver courses to a better standard.
