If you think you can&#39;t draw but have always wanted to give it a try, then this series of three beginners&#39; workshops run by local artist Olivia Irvine is for you!These 2.5 hour introductory workshops can also be booked individually. Beginners are welcome. No experience necessary.Drawing with lineOn the first of our three 2.5 hour introduction to drawing workshop, you will try out exercises that activate the more visual part of your brain, helping you to really look. Using the humble HB pencil, you will learn how to see and relate to shapes in an absorbing way, which results in drawings that are more dynamic and accurate than you may have thought possible. Prepare to surprise yourself!Drawing with toneCreate dynamic drawings that show form and texture. This workshops follows on from, and complements, the drawing with line workshop. We will draw from still life objects and from photos of landscapes. There will be plenty of objects and large landscape photocopies at hand but please feel free to bring your own, converting any photos to black and white and printing out.Looking at surface, shape and space, we will use soft pencils, charcoal and erasers to eke out form and texture, resulting in dynamic drawings.Drawing with colourCreate colourful drawings that are decorative and individual. This workshop follows on from, and complements, the workshops which dealt with drawing using line and drawing using tone. It can be taken as an individual workshop or part of a series.We will draw from still life objects with interesting shapes, colours and patterns. There will be plenty of objects at hand but please feel free to bring some personal ones of your own.Combining line, tone and colour, we will use pencils, coloured pencils and oil pastels to create decorative drawings that show individuality.Booking as a series or individuallyThe price of &pound;110 for the series of 3 workshops includes all materials and light refreshments, and represents a saving of &pound;10 when compared to booking individually. The Arienas Collective workshops, courses and events are run from a supportive and welcoming home-based environment within a Georgian mews home in Edinburgh&rsquo;s City Centre New Town. We invite you to join us, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in being creative.
Spaces on our workshops and courses are limited so that our creative team of artists and makers can offer you the hands-on help and support you need to make the most of your time with us.&nbsp;
All the equipment and materials you will need are included in the price, unless stated otherwise, plus light refreshments (a selection of Shibui teas, coffee, hot chocolate, and sweet or savoury snacks). On full day workshops you are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat inside or out; or there are a wide range of independent sit-in or takeaway delis, caf&eacute;s, and restaurants, plus supermarkets, within a 5-10 minute walk.
PLEASE NOTE: Our workshop space is on the first-floor of a Georgian mews building and unfortunately we do not have lift access. The workshop space is in our home which is&nbsp;not&nbsp;nut free. Please let us know of any skin or food allergies before booking. We require a minimum number of bookings to ensure we can pay our creatives a fair fee and bookings are non-refundable unless we cancel. Should we have to cancel, we will offer you the option to swap to an alternative date or workshop, or to request a refund.
Private workshop bookings
Most of our workshops are also available to book for small private get-togethers; themed wedding and birthday celebrations; corporate team building and well-being purposes; and as in-store retail events. For larger groups, many of our workshops can be brought to a location of your choice.&nbsp;
Age restrictions
Our workshops are planned with adults in mind. Many are suitable for teenagers, but some may require under 16s to be accompanied for insurance purposes. Please check with us before booking.
