7 Jewellery Making courses in Kenilworth

This class will cover most of the basic jewellery making techniques including saw piercing, forming, soldering and polishing. It is suitable for beginners. This set of 6 morning workshops (over 6 weeks) is designed to allow you the opportunity to explore a wide range of techniques to create beautifully unique fused glass jewellery & decorative objects. After a brief introduction to the historical context and language of fused glass you will be guided through using techniques such as scoring, cutting £0& layering sheet & accessory glass, adding mica or oxide powders to create sparkle and bubbles, use of kiln carving to create subtle textures, using inclusions of wire & precious metal foils and painting or stencilling with 'glassline' paints etc. you will create at least 2 pieces per session and these will be fired and ready to add finishing touches on the subsequent session ( pieces made during the final date will be fired & finished and ready for collection after 7 days) we will mainly focus on jewellery but larger items can be made eg. This is an introductory workshop to learn several methods of creating fused glass jewellery and other decorative items.

You will first learn different ways to texture metal, then you will choose one to texture your silver disc, create a bezel for your stone, solder on the ring or bail and finally set your stone and polish. There will be a selection of semi-precious stones to choose from.

This Silver Ring Workshop is designed for absolute beginners. It will be a great introduction to working with silver and will see you make your very own silver ring, using skills acquired during your day.
