3rd August FREE SAND ART FOR MASTERING PATIENCE AND PROCRASTINATION

By Art and Spirituality CIC

In a society where we are accustomed to always getting everything right away, patience seems to have become an obsolete virtue. Yet patience is not just the ability to know how to wait and endure - the key is being proactive rather than passive. It becomes that essential mechanism we need when life confronts us with difficulties, from daily annoyances to serious problems. Patience is a form of wisdom that comes from accepting that things have their own time to mature. Procrastination often emerges when we feel pressured to get things "right away" or when tasks feel overwhelming. This workshop reveals how procrastination and impatience are two sides of the same coin - both driven by our discomfort with the natural timing of things. Through sand art, we learn to embrace the process rather than rushing toward outcomes. Cultivating patience is possible. We learn to stay anchored in our breath, especially in those moments where we feel we must immediately react to a situation or avoid it entirely. Learning to be with what is in that moment inside of us - in body, mind, heart - we drop judgment, expectations, and disappointments, instead trying to make friends with what is moving through us, knowing that it is only a moment of passage. Through sand art, we practice this allowing, discovering that steady progress feels better than rushing or avoiding. What You'll Discover: How to transform procrastination from avoidance into mindful pausing The difference between productive patience and passive waiting How to stay present with discomfort instead of rushing or delaying That each grain of sand - like each moment of life - has something to communicate if we listen How slow, creative work can heal our relationship with time and productivity This class is sponsored by Community Fund, Awards for All It is FREE and is aimed at adults, women, etnic minorities, any individuals from low-income background. Suitable for all levels experience. By attending this class you release the teacher, Giada Gaslini and Art and Spirituality Cic, from any liability arising out of any personal injuries, emotional or physical release, death, physical reaction, expectations of results, theft in the venue or damages that may happen to people and objects while attending. 8th August FREE MANDALA PAINTING

5.0(45)

By Art and Spirituality CIC

We invite you to a sacred ciorcal art workshop inspired by the monuments of Edinburgh to celebrate 900years. From the famous to the hidden, we will explore the city’s architectural landscape and creatively express its beauty and unique features through mandala painting. The teacher Rachael will open the workshop with a guided meditation, which will include questions to help you explore your relationship with both the well-known and lesser-known parts of the city. We will then research what feels significant to you, from patterns to styles. You’ll have the opportunity to start forming ideas for your mandala. There are many directions you can take in creating your piece—for example, you might draw inspiration from the city’s Gothic architecture as a whole, or focus on specific sculptures at St. Giles’ Cathedral. You may pay particular attention to the symbolically placed flags or the animals scattered throughout the city (e.g., Greyfriars Bobby). The teacher will encourage you to seek inspiration from books in the room, as well as from your own experience, to curate your unique relationship with Edinburgh’s heritage. This could be depicted through spirals, patterns, lines, shapes and textures. The majority of the class will be spent creating mandala-style paintings that are rich in meaning and connected to Edinburgh’s heritage. Materials will be provided, including paints, canvas pads, pens, and pencils. The workshop will close by gathering in a circle, where everyone will be invited to share what they have created and reflect on what resonates with them about the city. This FREE workshop is sponsored by Edinburgh Council- Edinburgh 900 We prioritize our international community in the area of Gorgie-Dalry-Saughton where our studio is based.  By attending this class you release the teacher, Giada Gaslini and Art and Spirituality Cic, from any liability arising out of any personal injuries, emotional or physical release, death, expectations of results, theft in the venue or damages that may happen to people and objects while attending.

It is a myth that we must be flexible to do Yoga. We do not arrive to Yoga with perfect bodies. Through breath and mindful movement we move our bodies and our minds toward wholeness and healing, and we learn to  accept ourselves as we are each day.  WHAT IS VINYASA FLOW YOGA? Vinyasa Flow yoga classes are both a physical challenge and a moving meditation. We start with yogic breathwork (pranayama) and warm up our bodies with gentle movements.  We then move into a more rigorous flow where we connect our breath with our movement through various yoga postures.  Modifications are offered for different abilities and those with conditions and injuries.  We then wind down with relaxing postures and deep rest.  In these classes you can expect to build physical strength, balance and stamina.  You will also develop a mindfulness practice and better body awareness.   This is a strength-based style of yoga so expect to sweat. At the end of class, you will leave feeling challenged and energised, yet also calm and centred.  With regular attendance you can expect to feel stronger and more flexible, to have better balance and to learn mindfulness tools to manage stress.  -- Please note: a reasonable level of fitness is required for these classes. You should be able to walk briskly for a mile and go up and down stairs without difficulty. Flexibility is NOT a requirement, rather it is one of the benefits gained by practicing yoga. 😊 After my first yoga class, I was hooked. I felt so calm. My body felt so open, and so tall. For more than 20 years now I have attended yoga classes for fitness, fun and to find a place of peace and respite. It’s helped me through bouts of back, neck, and wrist pain when I worked in IT. Yoga kept me fit during pregnancy and gives me a calming place to go when I need a break from the constancy of motherhood.
