Cardiff

Hello – I’m Jonathan Pollinger, a freelance social media trainer and I’m here to help you love social media as much as I do. Social media can make a huge difference to your business or organisation as they can help achieve your objectives. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok can raise awareness of your business or charity, help you to attract more customers, as well as boost sales and profits. MY BACKGROUND I’ve been working as a social media trainer providing straightforward, practical training for small businesses and charities since 2009…before social media for business was a thing! Before that I’d always been interested in bringing people together using technology, just as social media does today. It’s my speciality and my passion – and I’ve over 110 testimonials on LinkedIn [https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathanpollinger/] to prove it. Over the past twelve years, I’ve worked with small businesses, PR and social media agencies, charities, an MP, local government, business owners, other freelancers and more recently social media influencers. As well as training I provide social media services to B2B businesses via Boost Social Agency [https://boostsocial.agency/]. In November 2022 I launched Pollinger Social Club [https://ko-fi.com/pollingersocial/tiers] for those who want ad hoc social media advice and reporting on a regular basis. Recognising that AI is going to play a huge role in marketing, in June 2023 I launched Power your marketing with ChatGPT and AI [https://www.nilc.co.uk/courses/business-skills/artificial-intelligence/power-your-marketing-with-chatgpt-and-ai/] via NILC. JONATHAN POLLINGER – SOCIAL MEDIA TRAINER’S TESTIMONIALS “Jonathan combines precise technical expertise with a tolerant and humane approach towards those of us who have been a little slow on the uptake with new media.” Martin Horwood [https://blog.martinhorwood.net/wp/], Former MP for Cheltenham. “I’ve been blown away by the number of business enquiries I’ve received from Twitter since my training with Jonathan. Brilliant!” Sarah Townsend [https://www.sarahtownsendeditorial.co.uk/], Sarah Townsend Editorial Limited “The training was fantastic – very much targeted towards our team and what we do, so we didn’t waste time with things that we already knew.” Jo Evans [https://www.linkedin.com/in/jo-evans-2427a536/], Degreeplus Manager, University of Gloucestershire If I’m not providing training, I’ll probably be out running around Cardiff Bay. I love running the roads and taking part in races as it helps keep me fit and gives me energy. There can’t be many sports where you can continue to improve at my age! A bridge is known locally as ‘Pollinger Bridge’ as I run over it so often. In 2012 I co-founded Laptop Friday, a co-working and networking event, which takes place regularly in Gloucestershire and Devon. Find out how I helped NameTags4U grow their Facebook followers from zero to 48,000, and how a post I created reached 130,000 likes: NameTags4U – Facebook Marketing Case Study [https://www.dropbox.com/s/a6bh52rd4tpztso/NameTags4U_casestudy.pdf?dl=0] (pdf) Learn how I helped freelance marketing copywriter Sarah Townsend @STEcopywriting [https://twitter.com/stecopywriting] grow her Twitter followers from 27 in 2015 to over 7,650 today: Sarah Townsend Editorial – Twitter Marketing Case Study [https://www.dropbox.com/s/8urylo3qxph27u4/Sarah_Townsend_Editorial_case_study.pdf?dl=0] (pdf)

Students consider their subject from different disciplinary perspectives, developing an interdisciplinary understanding. This approach also enables students to show skills such as flexibility and creativity. Optional modules allow students to further develop the interdisciplinary character of their studies. In the end of degree project students explore a topic in depth. The project can also be interdisciplinary in scope and may have an applied character. On most degrees, students have a choice in how to present the project. This might be as a dissertation or in more applied format - such as a policy report or multi-media portfolio. Academic and personal skills Graduate School Masters degrees help students develop advanced subject knowledge and research skills. Students also develop skills in: critical thinking and creativity analysis and appraisal problem solving and decision making personal leadership and project management interpersonal communication and team working Core modules have an integrated skills development programme. The skills development programme connects academic learning with the development of professional skills. The skills development programme has three parts. Study support sessions prepare students for postgraduate study. Career support sessions help students look beyond their degree. Experiential sessions address real social justice problems faced by partner organisations. Community The Graduate School is a vibrant, stimulating postgraduate community. Graduate School events bring students together and help foster interdisciplinary identity. Students make social and intellectual connections within and across their Masters degree groups. St Leonard's Postgraduate College The University postgraduate community, St Leonard’s Postgraduate College, welcomes Graduate School students. St Leonard's Postgraduate College hosts networking and training events for all postgraduates. Through these Graduate School students can make connections with postgraduates from other schools. Postgraduate Society St Leonard’s Postgraduate College works closely with the Postgraduate Society. The Postgraduate Society is one of the Students’ Association's most active societies. All Masters students are welcome into the Postgraduate Society. The Postgraduate Society organises events for postgraduates. These include beach bonfires, day trips around Scotland, pub nights, and graduation balls. History and location The Graduate School for Interdisciplinary Studies welcomed its first students in 2018. The Graduate School now welcomes students from around the world. In 2020 more than 90 students joined Graduate School MSc and MLitt degrees. Since 2021, the Graduate School has been based in the Old Burgh School. The Old Burgh School has office, teaching, and study space for the Graduate School. It is also home to the University’s postgraduate study centre. Networking skills for sales professionals (In-House)

By The In House Training Company

Many people have a misconception about networking events, and lose out on new business opportunities as a result. They either don't appreciate the real benefits and techniques of networking and don't attend events, or they attempt to 'sell on the first date', causing resentment. You can either attempt to make a sale for a quick buck (which is particularly likely to backfire at a networking event), or you can try to open a long-term relationship, creating new opportunities and a high lifetime value customer (which is how it's meant to be done). Networking, when done properly, is an excellent tool for referrals. But you have to appreciate that it's done on the basis of giving rather than receiving and this doesn't always come naturally to sales professionals. The old saying that it's about getting to 'know, like and trust' is still true. This workshop is about having your prospects and customers getting to know, like and trust you, and building that lifetime value as a result. By the end of this programme, participants will be able to: Understand what networking is - networking etiquette Know how and where to network Clarify their objectives - why network Use the 4 basic questions to start a conversation Build rapport quickly and easily Answer the question 'What do you do?' effectively in a few seconds Deliver a 60-second pitch Break into a group Prepare for a network meeting Identify opportunities Use tools to assist in networking 1 Introduction Aims and objectives 2 What is networking? Why network - objectives and goal setting Networking etiquette Preparation - online and offline tools to use Identify networking opportunities - where to network Know what you have to offer 'Know, like and trust' - the process 3 What do you do? Answer in 5-10 seconds Create and deliver a 60-second pitch Who is your target market? 4 Starting a conversation Breaking into a group Building rapport The 4 questions to start a conversation Moving on 5 Communicate and engage LISTEN - 4 types of listening skill Ask powerful questions Influence - don't sell What can you do to help others - give to get 6 Power of referrals Who can give you referrals? When to give or ask for referrals Have a referral system Showing appreciation 7 Social media and other online tools Using LinkedIn and other social media Online directories 8 Next steps Following up Arranging one-to-one meetings Developing relationships
