Run from our indoor workshop in Tenterden, Kent, we’ve put this one-day leather working course together for anyone with an interest in leather, craft, or who simply wants to explore another avenue of bushcraft. You don’t need any previous experience with leather working as you will learn the core skills and techniques on the course. It’s a perfect introduction to making traditional leather items. So if you’re looking for an unforgettable day, join our experienced craftsman, Paul Bradley, in a leather working day that focuses on leather work tools, design and construction. We have designed this course around the making of a simple notebook holder. We have chosen this as a project as it covers all the basic skills required to produce almost any small leather goods. There is also large scope for customisation of your project. Along the way you will learn about different leathers, techniques and tools. Typically, you will, under the expert guidance and instruction of Paul Bradley: - Use the provided pattern to produce a leather cover for a standard 5.5 x 3.5 notebook - Be guided on how to design and draw out and customise a pattern - Learn all about the different tools used in leather working and how to use them - Learn how to cut out, assemble and mark for stitching - Learn and practice the techniques of the traditional saddle stitch to complete the assembly of your notebook - Learn how to finish your project with edge burnishing techniques and other small but important details that add to the overall professional look. About us and the venue: Jack Raven Bushcraft was founded in 2011 and we've been delivering bushcraft, craft and foraging courses since then from our 30 acre private ancient woodland on the Kent Downs in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Come along to Step Out, enjoy the outdoors and explore nature with Includes Us Too! This session is for children and young children who are currently not able to access a suitable education setting or are on a reduced timetable due to their disability and is running in Term Time. This session is £4.50 per child and unfortunately we cannot accommodate siblings on this activity. The session will run from 10am - 11.30am Please make sure you bring warm, waterproof clothing and wellies with an extra set of clothes and shoes to change into afterwards! Please bring snacks and drinks if you would like them! These sessions are going to run WEEKLY in the term, you will need to book onto each session if you wish to attend. They are running on the following dates… 4th November 11th November 18th November 25th November 2nd December 9th December If you book onto all five sessions from 4th November to 2nd December the final one on 9th December will be free.

The IU2 group is a new group that has been specifically launched to support children and young children who are currently not able to access a suitable education setting or are on a reduced timetable due to their disability.

A single day knife making course is a great way to make yourself an item that will last a lifetime, on this one day course we forge a blacksmiths knife (also called a Viking knife) a full metal knife with integral handle. A knife is one of the oldest tools ever made by humanity and it is one that invokes many emotions to people when they see and use it for a productive task. When doing a knife making course here at Bearded Pig Forge we will discuss the fine details of a knife and how they are made as well as the history of forging them.  On the course you will learn the basics of forging a blade and how to effectively heat treat them in order to get the most use out of the blades as well as techniques for sharpening and honing blades. Courses are £150 Per person per day.  I run a strict cancellation policy. You MUST complete E-Learning on The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training On Learning Disabilites & Autism before you attend further training. This is free and can be accessed here: https://portal.e-lfh.org.uk/Component/Details/781480 The training contains potentially challenging material that mentions death and dying, trauma, mental and physical illness, system failures and inequalities faced by autistic people and people with a learning disability. Tier 2 - Train The Facilitator Course Information  Suitable For: People who have the skills and experience needed to deliver Tier 2 Face-to-Face training to trainees who provide support and/or care of autistic people or people with a learning disability. Course Summary:  Tier 2 Train The Facilitator is a 2 day course. Trainee Facilitators need to: Complete the E-learning Attend a live Tier 2 training session Day 1 - Learning Disability Training Day Day 2 - Autism Training Day The trainee will then be assessed by our Lead Trainer where a decision will be made regarding signing the trainee off to delivery training. Information about The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disabilities & Autism The training is named after Oliver McGowan. Oliver was a young man whose death at the age of 18, shone a light on the need for health and social care colleagues to have better skills, knowledge and understanding of the needs for autistic people and people with a learning disability. The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is the government’s preferred and recommended training for health and social care staff and is enshrined in law in the Health & Care Act 2022. The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is co-delivered with a Facilitator and co-trainers with lived experience of learning disability and autism. The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training is a standardised package that is delivered by trained and approved trainers. The consistent content and delivery means it is transferable between employers. Content may trigger difficult and upsetting feelings. Please note that for this course to run there is a minimum of 3 trainees to attend; if this is not met by the day before the course it may not go ahead and you will need to reschedule.

The Level 3 International Foundation Diploma for Higher Education Studies (L3IFDHES) is usually a one-year pre-university qualification that provides students with an entry route to an overseas university. The L3IFDHES prepares students with the essential English language skills, key transferable study skills, cultural knowledge, and chosen specialisms that universities feel bridges the gap between high school and undergraduate study. In January 2023 we offer pathways in business and higher finance. With agreements in place with over 70 universities across the globe, students’ can progress with confidence to a higher education course for further study. Entry Requirements For entry onto the NCC Education Level 3 International Foundation Diploma for Higher Education Studies (L3IFDHES) qualification students must have successfully completed secondary school education. Students must also meet the English language entry requirements of: • IELTS minimum score of 4.5 or above OR • GCE ‘O’ Level English D7 or above Alternatively, a student can take the free NCC Education Higher English Placement Test which is administered by our Accredited Partner Centre’s.
