<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Welcome to the world of Crochet with this great beginner project the Granny Square. &nbsp;During this two and a half hour session Sonia will teach you the basics of Crochet. &nbsp;Sonia will demonstrate how to hold your yarn and hook and how to do the stitches, she will then be on hand through out the workshop to help you create your first granny square.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Most people finish during the workshop or get several rounds done, the full instructions are provided so you can finish off or make more at home. &nbsp;</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Sonia is not only an expert with a hook she is also a calm and patient tutor. &nbsp;</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">You will receive yarn and a hook (worth &pound;1.75) to take home, full tuition and refreshments.&nbsp;</p>

Description
Come and learn a series of hand embroidery stitches while surrounding yourself in the creative inspiration which is Stitching Kitchen.  Hannah has been doing hand embroidery since childhood and loves to share her skills.  During this 3 hour workshop we will cover the fundamentals of hand embroidery and get you started with this versatile craft.

Choices of fabric, to hoop or not to hoop
How to create stitches - we will cover running stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, chain stitch, satin stitch, fly and feather stitch
We may also have time to look at a range of other stitches including blanket stitch, french knots, couching

About your tutor
Hannah is a lifelong crafter who has been practicing hand embroidery since childhood.  She is a member of the Embroiderers Guild and regularly exhibits with the Guild at National stitch events such as the Knit and Stitch show.  She has found hand embroidery a key part of supporting her mental health and hopes that in sharing this craft she can support others in this mindful practice.

This class is suitable for all and will allow us all to slow down, appreciate the fabrics and thread and put our busy lives aside for a few hours. Linen and wool are my favourite fabrics to hand stitch with.
Your design may not be complete at the end of the session but you can take away all you need in terms of materials and knowledge to complete your textile art at home. You can frame your creation or use in a cushion or to decorate a bag.

These rather festive buttons have been designed by Danielle - she is pushing the boundaries on the standard wheel style buttons to bring your festive trees and snowflakes (she can also show you her snowmen buttons)! These can be added to your festive outfit or hung on your Christmas tree.
We will be using plastic or metal rings to create a base and infill with a festive and sparkly snowflake or tree have a wide variety of colours and beads to embellish your project
All materials and full instruction from Hannah are included in the workshop together with a cuppa and slice of cake.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Bondaweb on a roll: This is the primary material you will be using.
Fabric ground: A plain fabric base, this can be cotton or polyester (scrap fabrics for the patchwork design)
Haberdashery: Scrap fabrics and a variety of threads. Gather beads, sequins, ribbons, yarns, or any other embellishments you want to incorporate into your artwork
Iron and board: To fuse the fabric layers together, no steam. Iron should be on its hottest temperature.
Hand sewing needle and thread & hand embroidery needle and thread.
Fabric scissors.
Acrylic paint: very small amount (2 colours) & paintbrush.
Baking parchment (greaseproof paper) to protect your iron
If you are machine embroidering your artwork, you will also need:

Goldwork has been taken to the next level with this contemporary design. Incognito demonstrates how you can mix traditional techniques with contemporary embroidery to create a delight in texture and colour.We will begin by introducing the string padding for the linear work. 
In the second stage, you will be learning how to stitch the beads, sequins and crystals. Finally, you will stitch the silver grid next with smooth silver purl and gold rough purl.
In the second session, we will practise how to stitch the essing with gold and silver purl including the transitions from a thicker to a thinner part on the design. The crystals on settings will be added last to create some depth and sparkle.
