Using monochrome or brightly coloured fabric, interesting patterns, oversized shapes, negative space, modern quilting is fun and funky and joyous. Dressmaking course - Sew with stretch fabrics!

Runs on Sundays 25th Februrary and 2nd March 10:30-3:30 Make the fab Tilly and the Buttons Coco or Billy dress in this one day class. These dresses are made from knitted fabric and therefor a great pattern to make in a short time - No zips or buttonholes! It should just fit straight out of the envelope. This is a good class to learn about using stretch fabrics on a domestic sewing machine. For a more in-depth class covering fitting please join the 3 day dressmaking course instead.   The pattern for this garment is included in the class fee, as are the machines, haberdashery, endless tea and coffee. All you'll need to bring is the fabric for your dress, I will discuss the exact amount and what kind is suitable once the class is booked.    This is a small class so you will get lots of time with me. I will have a maximum of 4 students in the class but usually we just have 2 or 3.  Event Terms & Conditions Classes need to be paid for at the time of booking. They will only run once the minimum number of students is met. My studio sadly isn’t accessible to those with mobility issues. I have cats but no soft furnishings or carpets in the studio so most people with allergies are fine with antihistamines.

About this Training Course This 5 full-day course has been designed to develop skills in understanding the geometry and petrophysical characteristics of carbonate reservoirs. Depositional fabric, grain type and size and subsequent diagenetic modifications are the major controls on carbonate reservoir behaviour. The complex inter-relationship of the depositional and burial history can be unravelled to allow prediction of reservoir facies and reconstruction of three-dimensional reservoir models. This course will demonstrate the value of the reservoir model in volumetric assessment and development of carbonate reservoirs. *Previous knowledge of carbonate sedimentology is not required. Course Content in Summary: Carbonate reservoirs: Basic principles; depositional concepts; grain types; textures and fabrics; environmental reconstruction. The reservoir model - depositional and diagenetic characteristics: Sabkha/tidal flat; lagoon; shelf; reef (rudist and coral/algal); barrier/shoal; slope and redeposited; aeolian and lacustrine; karst plays. Southgate Mosque was founded in 2021 as a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing prayer facilities to the local Muslim community. Southgate Mosque and Community Centre Ltd is a Registered Charity in England and Wales with charity number 1201327. We opened the doors to the Alan Pullinger Centre in Southgate for Jumuah prayers in November 2021. Within a few weeks, numbers had grown through word of mouth, and less than a year later, we were at full capacity. Our community Iftar event during Ramadan was over-subscribed, and over 400 people attended Eid-ul-Adha prayers in Groveland’s Park. There is a growing Muslim community in Southgate and surrounding areas (Oakwood and Cockfosters) made up of a varied demographic, ethnic and socio-economic population that makes an essential contribution to the fabric of the area. Our social, spiritual and educational needs continue to grow and hence the urgent need for a mosque in the area. We now have a unique opportunity to acquire a truly spectacular building set within its own extensive 3 acres of grounds in the heart of Southgate. The building itself is Grade II listed and is of special interest to English Heritage. If we were to succeed in establishing our centre here, we would be able ensure that in addition to meeting the current needs of local Muslims, we would be restoring a valuable asset within the local area, and would secure a legacy for generations to come. This project will not be easy and will take time, however it will only be possible with the support and contributions of the local community. We therefore appeal to you to donate generously and help us in whatever way you can to secure a unique legacy in Southgate for both Muslims and the wider community.
