Edward is committed to supporting people move towards wholeness and the role education can play in this process. Edward researches mindfulness, integral and transpersonal psychology and well-being as both a member and convenor of postgraduate research at the Centre for Research in Human Flourishing (University of Nottingham). An avid reader, he is particularly inspired by the writings of Adyashanti, Stanislav Grof, Bernardo Kastrup, Gabor Maté, Rupert Spira, Alan Watts and Ken Wilber. Edward has written numerous articles, book chapters and books on these topics himself. Edward has been rigorously trained, he received a First Class (Hons) Degree in Education and Art from the University of Exeter in 1998 and a PhD in Peace Education and Sociocultural Theory from the University of Birmingham in 2003. Edward is a qualified mindfulness teacher, trained by Patrizia Collard/Enter Mindfulness, a Life Coach and a SoulCollage® Facilitator. He has taken the core modules of the Grof Transpersonal Trainer (GTT) Programme, covering the paradigm of Holotropic Breathwork, The Power Within (Bodywork), Music & Transcendence and Spiritual Emergency. He has also taken elective modules in Jung, Alchemy & The Transformation of Consciousness, and Inner Ethics/Soul Collage. This training has been supplemented by further training from the TRE (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) College and the College of Sound Healing . As part of ongoing quality assurance, Edward receives regular supervision in mindfulness, TRE® and Holotropic Breathwork®, actively researching all of these fields, attending regular conferences, courses and retreats to ensure his work and guidance is informed by deep inner experience and the latest research and good practice. Edward is also a member of the Association for Spiritual Integrity and follows their honour code of ethics and good practice for individuals. Edward has attended a Quaker meeting all of his adult life, adopting a contemplative and universal approach to spirituality. He has served as both a Clerk and Elder to his local. 'Clerkship' involves engaging contemplative approaches and discernment to make spiritually-informed group decisions. Edward continues to practise art, focusing on contemporary altars, shrines and portraiture drawing upon studies at the University of Exeter and the Slade School of Art, London. His work has been shown in numerous exhibitions, winning the prestigious Attenborough Prize in 2011. Edward accepts commissions and much of his work is available for sale. Artwork can be an excellent tool for integration and creativity is employed to help with this process in many of Edward’s courses and workshops.

Tai Chi Punch Although each style of Tai Chi Chuan has its peculiar features, the five styles of Tai Chi Chuan something in common, they are: With a calm mind the performer breathes naturally. In peace and ease the performer moves lightly, softly, slowly and equally. The performer moves harmoniously and in a balanced way. The performer moves like a circle–graceful and perfect. The motion is slow and steady and strong strength (yang) and weak strength (yin) can be used in motions mutually. Tai Chi Chuan has attracted attention internationally. It has special functions in promoting health and preventing illness. Crescent Kick (Shuang Pai Chiao) The name Tai Chi comes from the Taoist symbol the West calls yin (black) and yang (white). This Tai Chi symbol represents two balanced opposites: black and white, sky and earth, fire and water, masculine and feminine, moon and sun. Feminine is the black or yin. Masculine is light or yang. The yin side of Tai Chi is like yoga, moving meditation, or chi kung. The yang side is the martial art – the practical application of the movements – using your power. Most often the yang side of Tai Chi is not taught. The healing benefits without the martial application is the yin without the yang. Through the movements of Tai Chi, one can set the mind and body in balance. It is not easy to do. You want to make sure that for every movement in motion (yang) or at rest (yin) your body is moving together. Through Tai Chi training, you can learn more about yourself and you can feel calm and peaceful all the time. It is a kind of martial art, but it is a gentle martial art. It is not for attacking, but has powerful self-defense applications.

The Reality Based Training Association was initially formed in an effort to address issues specifically related to Reality Based Training safety. As the mission of Law Enforcement, the Military and various segments of the Emergency Services has evolved, training for these missions in many ways has not. In some instances the direction that has been taken by some organizations or individual trainers has been misguided, dangerous or deadly. Part of the mission of the RBTA is to examine training systems as well as overall system designs in an effort to move training in the most effective direction. The cost of ineffective training systems in terms of money and loss of life has been immense. Much of the discussion that led to the formation of this association was due to the number of serious injuries and senseless killings of military and law enforcement personnel during training exercises. In many instances of near tragedy, the trend has been to bury the incident and attempt to ensure it is not repeated. Sadly, this is exactly what NOT to do. Once such incidents are uncovered it is possible to understand the root cause of the system failure so that it can be repaired or replaced. Upon a more thorough examination of various tragedies, dangerous training trends and paradigms were discovered. In many cases, where certain training practices did not lead to the injury or death of training participants, such practices had the propensity to programme participants for future failure during dangerous encounters. Due to the deep entrenchment of many of these trends and philosophies inside the cultures where they were developed, it has been determined that the faulty architecture of many of these systems or the individual training philosophies of certain trainers is not easily changed. The RBTA was founded as a means to an ongoing investigation into how such systems CAN be changed so that personnel can be trained in the safest, most cost effective manner possible. To that end, the RBTA is an organization dedicated to the unification of the trainers and organizations tasked with supplying the soldier on the battlefield, emergency services worker or officer in the street with the most current information availble with regards to training philosophies, systems and products. Where systems, organizations or individual training practices are found to be defective or dangerous, the RBTA will direct its resources to the correction of those defects. Where defects are not correctable, it will inform its membership of the perceived dangers so that such systems can eventually be corrected, removed from service or avoided.

CoCo has a team of staff and volunteers dedicated to building confidence, self-esteem and support positive lifestyle changes in young people via the conduits of education, sport and culture. Our staff have a background in mentoring and life coaching, project management, social inclusion, vocational training, and sports coaching. Our community based values are manifested in our training activities in the classroom, and our team activities which take place in positive open spaces and parks around Brighton and Hove. CoCo works with a variety of local organisations and stakeholders to achieve its goals and deliver its activities. For example, we work directly with youth clubs, Job Centre Plus, and youth/employment networks (Brighton’s Women’s Centre, the Chamber of Commerce, Brighton and Hove Youth Collective, and The Platform) to engage directly with young people that are interested in career planning, job search, our vocational courses, or sport team building activities. We also have close ties with sports clubs such as Hassocks Tennis Club, Preston Park Tennis Club, Pavilion and Avenue Tennis Club, Preston Panthers FC, Withdean FC and Patcham FC. With these clubs we organise team building events, joint sports days and in house training to develop soft and employability skills via sport. Our team has worked with hundreds of young people across Sussex to provide vocational training, mentoring and employability training. Our reach is growing and in 2017 hope to reach even more young people. Specifically, our qualified staff provide VET courses such as City and Guilds Level 1 Principles of Coaching Sport, Level 1-2 Employability Skills and Level 2 Travel and Tourism Destinations. We also provide Coaching and Mentoring Sessions with a qualified life coach, cultural activities and overseas team sports tours in Europe. Our aim is to support young people not in employment, education or training, aged 18-24, early school leavers now long term unemployed, general unemployed young people, and we place special emphasis on the participation of young women and the more socially excluded members of society. We use our links with local colleges, the local authority, community groups and youth networks to support young people into vocational training, improve their confidence and support them into further vocational training, work experience or employment. About Functional Patterns The Future of Human Health and Fitness... is Now The conceptual framework of Functional Patterns was first established in 2009 by CEO and Founder Naudi Aguilar. The notion of training in relation to an organism's biological characteristics was borne out of this framework, and after stringent testing and diligent research, the Functional Patterns methodology was created. Drawing from anthropology, kinesiology, biology, sociology, physiology and more — Functional Patterns has taken an integrative approach its practice since inception. With the launch of the Power of Posture in 2013, the online spread of the Functional Patterns system of training saw tremendous growth. I work in private practice as a counsellor, a yoga teacher and also offer support to the business sector through my experience creating and leading an organisation in the charity sector. I am an open, supportive and approachable BACP registered counsellor, NLP Master practitioner and ACT therapist, specialising in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) since 2014 - which is a valuable modern behavioural alternative to CBT, based on mindfulness, compassionate and values-led practices. I have extensive experience of working with abuse as founder and now Patron of a Domestic Abuse charity Daisy Programme | Our Patrons. I gained extensive experience of working with trauma, abuse whilst mindful of the legacy this leaves behind. My experience lends and informs my work in SME/charity sector providing coaching and motivational talks on creating a sustainable charity. I am a fully qualified yoga teacher combining yoga with therapeutic writing with a special interest in the menopause. My practice is reflective of my own life experiences and belief that each and every one of us has the answers to our questions, we just sometimes need someone to walk beside us on the road. In my private practice I work with the mind body, so many of our aches, pains and niggles maybe caused by trauma locked in the body so I am an advocate of connecting with self which is often the last thing we want to do. I however can support you to understand a little more how simple breathing exercises can make a difference. My work as a yoga teacher has informed my counselling practice in how tension, stress and anxiety contribute to our heightened state of hyper-arousal, anticipating, over-thinking whilst either living in the past or in the future, very often not in the now which is all we can influence. I am a qualified Mental Health Instructor for MHFA and have a particular interest in supporting those with mental and physical health difficulties Through my own lived experience I have managed the Menopause and am a member of the British Menopause Society. This is an area I also have specialist knowledge of. The menopause being a huge time of change. My hope is that through therapy you will find a way through the challenges and grow as a result of understanding your story so far. I work integratively which means I have a combined approach in the therapy room with no single modality (type of counselling) is the answer. I work with clients collaboratively showing acceptance and non-judgmentalism, positive regard and being open and congruent with them, valuing their uniqueness and belief in their ability to grow. I am passionate about using any creative approach, especially the use of writing for wellbeing and therapeutic purposes. I have studied therapeutic writing with The Writing Academy and run writing workshops which compliment my counselling & yoga work.
