The University of Manchester – Middle East Centre opened at Dubai Knowledge Park in 2006 with the launch of its flagship Global Part-time MBA programme. Today, the centre has supported over 2,894 part-time MBA students and graduated over 1,849. The centre team also supports a regional community of around 2,800 alumni and actively works to create professional networking opportunities to help enrich the wider business community. The Middle East Centre is the largest and fastest growing centre in The University of Manchester’s international network. Since successfully launching the University’s top ranked MBA programme in the Middle East, the centre has identified a range of key educational and leadership needs in the region through research, collaborations and consultancy work. The University now offers a dynamic portfolio of blended learning part-time Master’s degrees for working professionals, including MSc Financial Management and MA Educational Leadership in Practice. As the University continues to contribute to the growth of the higher education sector in the Middle East, additional programmes will be offered. The University works in a range of collaborations with professional bodies such as IMA, ACCA, and Society of Engineers, as well as UK organisations including UKTI, British Business Group and British Centres for Business. In addition, The University of Manchester - Middle East Centre has forged a range of partnerships with public and private sector organisations through its Strategic Talent Partnership programme. Economic growth area Dubai and the region continue to be an area of dynamic economic growth, with solid business infrastructure, a healthy and developing business environment, areas of skills development that are supported by government, and businesses that are facing the challenges of maintaining economic growth through a period of economic change. Dynamic and vibrant city Dubai shares many similarities with Manchester; both are dynamic and vibrant cities that have transformed themselves to make a major impact on the world. Manchester was at the heart of the first industrial revolution and is still today a centre of research, innovation and learning; and Dubai is at the forefront of the new wave of 21st century, knowledge-based economies. Executive educational facilities The Middle East Centre, based in Block 2B at the knowledge hub, Dubai Knowledge Park, offers study, library and classroom facilities for students and visiting faculty from The University of Manchester in the UK, as well as office space for the regional team, which coordinates and supports all student activities, including highly interactive and intensive workshops conducted by visiting faculty. A recent expansion at the centre has also increased the range of facilities available for students. Our students and alumni We are delighted to have supported such a large number of talented MBA graduates from the Middle East region. Since our first class graduated in 2009, we have launched The University of Manchester Alumni Association Middle East to support our many alumni in the region through a very active programme of professional and social events and networking opportunities.

Golden Circle Tuition

London

The Golden Circle is a community of exceptional educators. We understand how important education is in a child’s development and that the right teacher can make all the difference. That’s why we work closely with families to fully understand the needs of each child and tailor our process precisely to reflect individual requirements. We personally match our students with inspiring, qualified teachers who accelerate learning in a supportive one-to-one environment. Since founding The Golden Circle in 2017, it has been a privilege to play a role in the educational journey of so many students. Our students perform excellently in exams, and enjoy more success at leading universities, but it is their personal growth which makes The Golden Circle such a rewarding place to teach. As mentors, as well as educators, we help our students to develop the key qualities of Courage, Critical Thinking, Compassion, Growth Mindset and Self-Reflection. We are inspired by tradition, but not constrained by it. Our co-curricular lessons enable students to discover entrepreneurship, mindfulness, and global citizenship. The Golden Circle’s modern approach to tutoring and home schooling takes a traditional UK education into the 21st century. If this strikes a chord with you, then we are the right team for you. I welcome you to join us and unlock your child’s academic potential. Hannah Titley BA (Hons), MA, MA (Oxon), PGCE COURAGE Courage is having the strength to tackle challenges – in academia and in life. It’s having the confidence to face a subject that feels daunting and ask questions when you don’t understand. Academic courage empowers students to choose difficult problems and risk making mistakes. We work with students on their Maths courage, their Science courage, their Shakespeare courage, their public speaking courage. By cultivating courage in a supportive learning environment, our students feel safe to ask questions and rise to academic challenges. CRITICAL THINKING Critical thinking is a way to analyse complex issues and articulate ideas. It is a lens through which to understand the world, by appreciating different perspectives and value frameworks. Through discussion and debate, we teach students to think critically and confidently articulate their ideas. Our teaching approach seeks to liberate students from unthinking conformity. COMPASSION Compassion is feeling empathy for others and responding with kindness. Too often moral development is valued as ‘lesser’ than academic success. However, the two come hand in hand. Treating yourself with compassion builds self-esteem, motivation, and confidence. Showing empathy towards others is an important communication skill. We welcome students and teachers from diverse backgrounds. In lessons, we model compassion and use positive affirmations to nurture our students’ self-belief. GROWTH MINDSET Growth mindset is the conviction that intelligence is learned. It enables students to reshape the narrative by which to excel in exams and in life. A growth mindset leads to a desire to learn, to embrace challenges, persist in the face of setbacks, and see effort as the path to mastery. Cultivating a growth mindset is at the heart of what we do. SELF-REFLECTION Self-reflection is taking the time to explore your own thoughts, behaviours and emotions. Without it, we miss learning opportunities. In an academic context, it enables students to identify strengths and weaknesses and evaluate their progress towards goals. Teaching the art of self-reflection is integral to our lessons. We provide detailed feedback on assignments and facilitate self-reflection discussions. Our weekly progress reports guide students to where they should devote their attention. Together, self-reflection and teacher feedback, leads to deeper learning. OUR COMMUNITY Our unique community is made up of dedicated parents, students, and over 300 qualified teachers. Our teachers have strong academic backgrounds, UK teaching qualifications, and a minimum of two years of experience teaching in the classroom. Many are also GCSE and A Level examiners. FOUNDER & MANAGING DIRECTOR HANNAH TITLEY Hannah founded The Golden Circle in 2017 after qualifying as a teacher through the Teach First programme. Teaching in the classroom showed that school doesn’t work for everyone. For children who are talented in sports, art, or music, or who require extra academic support or challenge, school doesn’t bring out their best. Born in Manchester, Hannah was educated at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls before reading Biological Sciences at New College, Oxford University. She holds a first class Master’s degree from King’s College London and PGCE teaching qualification which is rated ‘Outstanding’. In addition to teaching, Hannah has worked as a Researcher for Oxford University and Reform think tank. She is Director of the Home Schooling Association and continues to teach Science at Key Stage 4 and 5. She speaks regularly at education events and provides written commentary for national media including the BBC, The Times, Telegraph and The Guardian. HEAD OF OPERATIONS LYDIA TITLEY Lydia is originally from Manchester and completed her secondary education at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls. Following this, her interest in French language and culture led her to the University of Bath, where she completed a BSc in International Business Management and French. Lydia took the opportunity to spend a year in Paris where she attended the prestigious business school of ESCP Paris, studying a bilingual Master’s in Management, and worked as a European Account Manager at an international Marketing and Publishing firm. Lydia joined The Golden Circle team in 2018, where she holds the role of Head of Operations. In her spare time, Lydia enjoys yoga and is currently completing a Mindfulness Teacher Training course. She has a keen interest in the arts, theatre and travel. We have a longer school day than most other local schools. Each day (apart from Wednesday) is made up of six, 55 minute lessons. Our curriculum is broad in Year 7, 8 and 9, allowing students to discover subjects such as Citizenship and languages, in addition to the core building block subjects such as English, Maths and Science, before they choose their GCSE options for the two year GCSE programme starting in Year 10. Our Extended Curriculum offer ensures that our students also benefit from having a rich ‘all round’ experience. By the time students leave the Academy they will have developed the resilience, wisdom, hope and skills with which to lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. This website holds a range of information no matter your interest in the Academy. The news section of the website and our twitter feed are regularly updated with what we have been up to. Athena Studies

London

Our tutors are ambitious, social and enthusiastic top tier students who excel in their field of study and have an affinity with teaching. This is what we seek in a tutor in order to provide the best lessons for the student. Only with an 8 or higher and a genuine interest in the relevant subject will such a top tier student be selected. After an initial interview, it is up to the selected candidate to show us how he or she teaches. If that is sufficient, the teacher who has been hired will enter the training process, consisting of one or more trial lessons in which an actual lesson is simulated. During the entire period up to the first lesson and after that, the (prospective) teacher is extensively supervised by a quality manager who has several years of teaching experience and has shown superior results. Only tutors who are evaluated by students with an 8.0 average or higher for multiple actual lessons are given a permanent place in our team of tutors. All permanent lecturers take part in an advanced training programme, which focuses on improving teaching fundamentals, such as didactics, pedagogy, interpersonal communication and presentation skills. View our tutor vacancy if you want to be a part of this. Our method At the heart of every course, active learning is the basis. Students are often tempted to (only) make summaries and re-read or highlight textbooks, with the misleading idea that this improves their study results. Based on the available evidence, these study techniques are rated as being low utility learning (Dulonsky et al. 2013). At AthenaStudies, we are constantly analysing the most recent studies and assess student needs in order to find the most effective study methods to ensure the highest grades. It is proven that the most effective study method is retrieving the information out of the brain, instead of putting information into the brain. Spitzer et al. (1939) found that students who did one extra practice test scored about 10-15% better on their exam that students who did not. A more recent study from Butler et al. (2010) suggest an even bigger difference, with an estimated 30%. Hence, practice is key. Karpicke & Blunt (2011) takes this idea one step further and found that a group of students who read a topic four times scored less than students who practiced with the topic only once. Our tech team has created an ideal online environment where our teaching methods can flourish. Every course given by AthenaStudies is interactive and includes a lot of exam level practice material. It gives the students the opportunity to practice during the course and think for themselves. With every course, a summary of the full exam curriculum is provided and sent to the home address of the students. References: Butler, A. C. (2010). Therefore, we only offer tuition from active and dynamic performers with an extensive performance experience and Degrees in instrumental performance from renowned world’s top class conservatories. We don’t want you to waste your time with amateurs. Why would you? Director's vision The Masters Music School is run by Przemek Dembski – a multi-award winning concert pianist and teacher and a graduate with distinction from the Royal College of Music in London. Przemek’s performances have taken him to many venues across the UK and Europe including Royal Albert Hall, Steinway Hall, St.Martin in the Fields, St. James’ Picaddily to name just a few. Please click here to visit Przemek’s personal website Please click here to visit Przemek’s teaching profile on TMMS website Effective learning and practising techniques Being a professional means being efficient. It is commonly considered that it takes ages to learn playing an instrument. The Masters Music School is here to help. We believe that by sharing our methods of practising and learning (and this is what we do every day) we will enable you to progress faster than you could even imagine! It’s not only about how much we practise, but it’s also about HOW we practise. Want to know our tips, tricks and techniques? Learning and performance psychology Our tutors have received advanced teacher training covering aspects of psychology, methodology and how to manage performance anxiety. This makes them able to take a problem-solving approach in lessons and makes the teaching/learning process effective and gratifying. There’s certainly nothing more motivating for the student than progressing quickly. There’s also nothing more motivating for us than seeing you gaining the confidence and developing your skills and potential! Technique as a key to sucess Understanding the energy transformations and physical processes that occur to one’s body while performing is a key-point in teaching the instrumental technique. No matter if our students play for pleasure or if they want to achieve some professional goals, they need to be given tools which will enable them to fully express their personality and create their own interpretation. As learning the technique is similar to learning the language (learning HOW TO SPEAK), our method puts a strong emphasis on preparing some tools that let the music exist- the quality of sound and technique are strongly prioritised from the first lesson. Innovative and flexible lesson content Fed up with studios offering standard and boring lesson content? No problem. We tailor our lessons for your needs in terms of repertoire and approach, whether you want to perform for yourself, for your friends, at a party or in the concert hall. As well as offering classical tuition (including preparing for graded exams), we enjoy teaching a range of styles and approaches to performance. Want to improvise? Want to play your favourite song by ear? Want to compose your own piece? Just let us know. The crazier the ideas that you have the more fun we will have during the lesson!

Futuretrend

futuretrend

Enfield

Futuretrend has been providing IT, Design, Financial and Business Skills training since December 2000. With a solid reputation for delivering high quality programmes, Futuretrend has become a successful and well established training centre. Year on year hundreds of learners come to this centre to pursue a course of study that will help them fulfill career aspirations, improve their job prospects or to simply learn more about a particular area of interest. In today's competitive business environment the importance of up-to-date skills cannot be overstated. With Futuretrend, you and/or your team will benefit immensely from our results-oriented training. Our instructors are professionals who work full-time in the industry and bring their working knowledge to the classroom to enhance your learning experience. Our courses are centred on learning by doing, ensuring that learning retention rates are high and that delegates are able to confidently apply their new found skills in the workplace or successfully in an exam situation, demonstrating an immediate return on investment. A prerequisite for any Futuretrend trainer is that they must practise the skills they teach. It is essential that they are able to draw from real world experiences to illustrate subject matter, thereby enabling delegates to envisage how best to use software and concepts effectively. This is based on the following ethos: “Tell me and I’ll forget. Teach me and I’ll remember. Involve me and I’ll learn.” We are often asked how we have made a success from a company which was seemingly produced from nothing but which has now become one of the most dynamic organisations within the industry. The answers are simple; Speed - We have built a good reputation around the fact that we do not keep our clients waiting for answers to their requirements. If we tell you we shall call back the same day then we absolutely mean it. It’s more likely that we will get back to you on the spot. Quality - One attribute is nothing without the other. All Futuretrend's staff and associated freelancers have major industry experience and are amongst the best and highest qualified in their sphere of activity in the UK; and why not? Our reputation depends on them. Personal touch - Whilst maintaining the air and professionalism of a larger company you will always know who you are dealing with when you dial through to our offices. We give our individual time to each of our clients and as such you are guaranteed a friendly and personal reception. These are only three of the numerous reasons as to why so many individuals and organisations in and around the UK are choosing to trust their training to Futuretrend. Our success depends entirely on our client's satisfaction and this is mirrored in our everyday approach to your requests. We don't expect to stay at the forefront of our competitors without maintaining sharp minds and a fresh attitude. Another typical question asked is how can we offer our courses at such low prices ? Here is why; Futuretrend has never taken out costly traditional advertising which would lead to unnecessary expenditure and thus forcing prices up. We have built our success mainly on very good "word of mouth" and relatively inexpensive online marketing. As such we are in the lucky position of being able to do away with the myth that business can only be generated through glossy brochures. Additionally, we are not passing on the premiums charged for West End and City training venues. Most of these will still not be as modern or well-equipped as our newly refurbished classrooms. Our premises are within an Elegant Victorian North London building. You could easily be paying double the amount and more attending a similar course elsewhere and probably not even half the quality. We hope our web site will give you a taste of the quality of study available at Futuretrend and make your decision to study with us a little easier. We all learn best when we are happy and valued so let us help advance your skills and enhance your potential.
