The Portable Appliance Testing course or PAT testing course as it is more commonly known is one of our most popular courses as it does not require you to have any formal previous qualifications and once completed, will enable you to offer your services. In the commercial setting, the law places a responsibility on all employers to ensure that the electrical equipment to be used by their staff and the public, should be fit for purpose and safe for use. Hence, all portable appliances have to be regularly checked and maintained by a competent person.

The IMI Light Vehicle Inspection Technician Accreditation is for experienced mechanics who would like to gain recognition for their skills and knowledge. It is also accepted by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) as the stage 1 entry qualification for mechanics and technicians who wish to train to become an MOT Tester for class 4 and 7 vehicles (cars and vans) It is normally valid for 3 years and successful candidates, as well as receiving a certifcate, photo card and pin badge, will also be entered on to the IMI Professional Register. This is a public-facing register to showcase individuals working in the motor industry, who have been recognised for their experience, professionalism and commitment to ethical working practices. However, there will be no requirement for you to re-accredit if you go on to complete your IMI Level 2 Award in MOT testing (classes 4 & 7) within the 3 year period. As an Inspection Technician you must be able to work unsupervised – ideally, you should be in full time employment with at least 3 years experience (4 years if you wish to become an MOT tester) to ensure you are familiar with the techniques for vehicle servicing, inspection and system(s) diagnosis. There are 5 practical assessments for this route and two online exams, one containing 30 questions and a second containing 10 questions. PLEASE NOTE THESE ASSESSMENTS ARE TO A LEVEL 3 STANDARD AND ARE DESIGNED TO BE TOUGH. THEY CONCENTRATE ON FAULT FINDING WITHIN A GIVEN TIMESCALE. SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL FIND ALL OF THE FAULTS WITHIN 1 HOUR. About this Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT)  This 2-half-day Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) course will discuss the chemical aspects of the water-steam cycle in a power plant. The VILT course will examine the different types of chemicals used in boilers, potential issues in a water-steam cycle as well as aspects of monitoring and specifications regarding target values and alarm levels. Participants will also be equipped on what to do or key action steps to take in the event of chemistry-related incidents. This course is delivered in partnership with ENGIE Laborelec. He is active in water-steam cycle chemistry, where he provides support to increase chemistry maturity through audits, trainings or development of key performance indicators. His role also includes operational assistance in the field of chemical cleaning and troubleshooting. More recently, he expanded his field of competence towards electrical storage. In this regard, he specializes in electrochemistry and is in charge of different tests on batteries and their components within the ENGIE Batteries Lab.
