This comprehensive 2-day introductory course combines class-based teaching of essential theory in phlebotomy and practical blood-taking skills using simulated limbs. Our expert trainers will lead interactive presentations covering the requisite technical and scientific knowledge for practicing phlebotomy, after which you will spend a day developing your practical blood-drawing skills on simulated limbs. On completing this course, you will receive the UK-accredited Level 3 Certificate and be ready to progress to our Live Bloods Clinic Sessions (Part 2). Entry Requirements None, though all teaching is delivered in English. Helen Warwick is a Chaplain and Creative Therapist within the Community of Holy Rood House, Centre for Health and Pastoral Care, in Thirsk, North Yorkshire. Her work includes leading creative retreats and groups, working with people individually and supervision for pastoral workers. She is a trained Occupational Therapist and Spiritual Director with specialism in mental health, creativity, low energy, bereavement and trauma. Live via Zoom. Fortnightly - 1/15/29 Oct, 12/26 Nov, 10 Dec - 6-8pm UK time Join artist Julie Galante for this course designed to nurture your creative practice. Together we’ll explore ways to create work that reflects your individual interests, passion, and point of view, no matter your experience level. The course content is delivered over six live Zoom sessions, in a small, welcoming group with plenty of opportunities for interaction. Additionally, there will be optional (but highly recommended) assignments to complete in between the live sessions - assignments designed to get you stuck in to your creative practice in new and interesting ways. During each live session, there will be a demonstration focusing on a particular aspect of visual art - this will include various materials, subjects, and considerations such as composition, theme, mark-making, layering, and so on. We will also have a look at everyone’s recent creations, with celebration of the triumphs and suggestions for moving forward with work-in-progress. Together we’ll explore techniques including drawing, painting, mixed-media, and collage, but you don’t have to work exclusively in these media to take part - all creative disciplines are welcome. Each participant will be encouraged to deepen their explorations in whatever direction interests them most - be it a series of drawings, written reflections, sketches, collages, photographs, mixed-media pieces, or a unique, personal combination of all these. There will be an optional Facebook group for participants to stay connected and share their creations with each other between sessions. This is an opportunity for beginner artists to come together and learn new techniques and skills in capturing the human form from a live model. Because we believe that life drawing is an essential skill for all artists, whether you're interested in figurative work, portraiture, or any other type of art that involves the human body. During this workshop you will have the chance to practice drawing the human body in a variety of poses and perspective using different techniques. Our experienced instructors will guide you through the process, providing helpful tips on anatomy, proportion and composition and individual feedback to help you overcome any challenges you may face, so you can learn to draw the human figure more confidently and competently. We will be working with a professional life model who will hold a series of poses throughout the workshop. These poses will range from short gesture poses to longer, more sustained poses, giving you plenty of opportunities to practice capturing the human form in different positions and angles. All you need to bring is your creativity and enthusiasm to improve your drawing skills, and we will provide all the drawing materials required for this course. Please note that this is a nude drawing workshop, and attendees are to be 18 years or older. We ask that attendees under 18 years of age be accompanied by a responsible adult.
