Open course enabling either 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work qualification or 3 day First Aid at Work qualification. Full days session/s are required to ensure you complete and satisfy the trainer to pass the course. Certificate will be provided following full payment and attendance of course which you sign up for.  The 1-day Emergency first aid at work course is designed for first aiders working in small or low-risk environments. A 3-day First aid at work qualification is designed for larger or higher-risk environments and will include a wider range of illnesses and emergency situations.  Legal requirement advises that in workplaces of 5 or more people there should be a minimum of 1 fully trained First Aider on site at all times.

Safeguarding (F2F) The Makaton Safeguarding workshop is designed to support professionals and carers of children and adults with severe communication and learning disabilities. The workshop builds on existing knowledge of signs and symbols from Level 1 and 2 training, and provides instruction for extra signs and symbols specific to safeguarding situations. Participants are invited to consider differing protocols and practice. The workshop will enable participants to consider how the vocabulary may be safely applied to promote communication for people who use Makaton within a range of levels and contexts. Content This unique workshop provides signs and symbols for a range of vocabulary covering a number of topics: People: family, relationships and people around us Body parts and clothes Places Feelings: feelings, thoughts and behaviours (including bullying and abuse) Sexual behaviour By the end of the workshop you will be able to: Develop a ‘Safeguarding through Makaton’ plan for implementation in your own setting. Demonstrate an understanding of the range of people Makaton users could come into contact with at different ages and stages in their lives; Demonstrate how Makaton can be personalised and used at different levels of complexity to meet individual needs; Identify vocabulary required by a Makaton user and be able to apply the principles of this analysis to the user’s own setting; Demonstrate an understanding of the difference between comments and questions, and an appreciation of how to maintain an interaction with a Makaton user; Describe strategies or methods appropriate to use with a Makaton user to help them understand and use vocabulary or concepts; Duration The Makaton Safeguarding Workshop is made up of 13 learning hours, and is commonly delivered over 2 full days. Alternatively, the Workshop comprises of 4 modules and can be delivered flexibly over a number of weeks to suit participant’s needs. The Level 3 Health and Safety In The Workplace course aims to provide a thorough understanding of the different aspects of health and safety in the workplace. The course is designed to raise awareness of the responsibilities that all managers and supervisors are expected to maintain.

The Site Managers refresher (SMSTS-R) course is for delegates who have previously passed the full Site Management Safety Training scheme (SMSTS) course or subsequent refresher course, and can provide a valid current certificate. It aims to bring health and safety knowledge up-to-date, as well as giving a thorough overview of the legislative changes and their impact in the workplace. The course includes a wide range of topics, many building on the previous five-day course programme. Delivered interactively, the course includes group and individual exercises, discussions and projects.

This set of 6 morning workshops (over 6 weeks) is designed to allow you the opportunity to explore a wide range of techniques to create beautifully unique fused glass jewellery & decorative objects. After a brief introduction to the historical context and language of fused glass you will be guided through using techniques such as scoring, cutting £0& layering sheet & accessory glass, adding mica or oxide powders to create sparkle and bubbles, use of kiln carving to create subtle textures, using inclusions of wire & precious metal foils and painting or stencilling with 'glassline' paints etc. you will create at least 2 pieces per session and these will be fired and ready to add finishing touches on the subsequent session ( pieces made during the final date will be fired & finished and ready for collection after 7 days) we will mainly focus on jewellery but larger items can be made eg.
